Pulmonary arterial wedge pressure in hemorrhagic shock.

The American review of respiratory disease, 1978
To test the hypothesis that the position of a pulmonary arterial wedge catheter might affect its ability to measure left atrial pressure, we inserted 2 wedge catheters, one superiorly, and one dependently, in supine dogs. The position of the catheter tips and the zero level of the transducers were located on a lateral chest radiograph so that by ...

Pulmonary Artery Catheters and Assessment of Pulmonary Artery Wedge Pressure

Critical Care Nurse, 2014
alliances and professional education at Edwards Lifesciences in Irvine, California. In a recent publication, the major area of decline occurred in nonsurgical intensive care units. Continued PAC use tends to be in surgical patients, those taking vasopressors, and those receiving mechanical ventilation.

Comparison of right atrial and pulmonary capillary wedge pressures

Critical Care Medicine, 1978
The right atrial pressure (Pra) was compared to the pulmonary capillary wedge pressure (Pcw) in 54 patients. In patients with heart disease, the correlation of Pra with Pcw was poor. However, in patients without clinical heart disease, Pra approximated Pcw, in both absolute number and change.

Wedge pressure confirmation by aspiration of pulmonary capillary blood

Critical Care Medicine, 1985
In order to define the contribution of wedge blood composition to pulmonary artery wedge pressure (WP) measurement, we made 28 comparisons of WP and left atrial pressure (LAP) in 16 stable patients with pulmonary or cardiac failure after cardiac surgery.

Influence of Catheter Tip Position on Pulmonary Wedge Pressures

Circulation Research, 1962
Pulmonary artery wedge pressures and wedge pulmonary arteriograms were obtained in 68 patients with either mitral stenosis, congenital heart disease, or no demonstrable heart disease. The arteriogram defines five catheter tip positions in the wedged artery.
