Engineering Biochar‐Derived Functional Materials for High‐Performance Supercapacitors: Design Principles, Mechanisms, and Scalable Strategies

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Biochar has emerged as a useful and adaptable source of carbon for supercapacitor electrodes. Its value comes from the way biomass chemistry, thermal conversion, and activation conditions shape the resulting pore network, surface groups, and degree of carbon ordering.

Facile and scalable fabrication of hydrophobic CNF-based composite films via michael addition for enhanced mechanical performance and water resistance

open access: yesIndustrial Crops and Products
Cellulose nanofibers (CNFs) are promising renewable materials because high availability, strong mechanical performance, and biodegradability are provided. A major limitation is intrinsic hydrophilicity. Mechanical durability can also be insufficient. Use

Tuning Solute Partitioning Coefficients in a Biphasic Ionic Liquid/Water System to Facilitate Extraction of Lignin-Oxidized Aromatics

open access: yesBioResources, 2015
Extraction of aromatic substances obtained during oxidation of lignin with ionic liquids (ILs)-based molecular oxygen was investigated. It was found that virtually no aromatic substances could be directly extracted with organic solvent until water had ...

High‐Temperature Heat Pump Test Bench with n‐Butane (R‐600) Generating Steam

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, EarlyView.
This work involves building a test bench for a high‐temperature heat pump (HTHP) and analyzing the measurements. The focus is on steam generation using an HTHP to decarbonize process steam demand. The findings indicate that stable steam generation is possible, providing a higher heat transfer coefficient in the heat pump's condenser.
