Pulp property development Part III: Fiber residence time and consistency profile impact on specific energy and pulp properties [PDF]
This paper focuses on the pulp properties obtained from ThermoMechanical Pulp (TMP) CD refiners. Undersampled pulp variables are expanded into an oversampled set of process data, which makes it possible to analyze pulp properties in a dynamic time frame.

Physical properties of kraft pulp oxidized by hydrogen peroxide under mildly acidic conditions [PDF]
The objective of this study is to gain further insight into the compositional and physical changes of kraft pulp caused by oxidation with hydrogen peroxide under acidic conditions. A softwood kraft pulp has been subjected to varying degrees of oxidation.

Soda-formaldehyde as pretreatment agent for cottonwood chemimechanical pulp [PDF]
Effect of soda and formaldehyde as pre-treatment chemicals during the chemimechanical pulping (CMP) of Populus deltoides have been studied. When the two chemicals are used in a mixture for cooking in one or two stages, the pulp has low strength ...

Effects of kraft pulping on the interfacial properties of Eucalyptus pulp fibres [PDF]
The effects of kraft pulping on the interfacial properties of eucalypt pulp fibres were investigated using polyelectrolyte titration (PT) and contact angle measurements. Changes on surface composition were assessed by FTIR-ATR spectrometry combined with principal component analysis (PCA).

Modification of kraft wood-pulp fibre with silica for surface functionalisation [PDF]
A new science strategy for natural fibre modification was devised in which glass surface properties would be imparted to wood-derived fibre. The enhancements known from addition of silane reagents to glass fibre–polymer composites could therefore be ...

Thermophysical properties of umbu pulp
Summary The effects of moisture content (between 65 and 95%) and temperature (between 5 and 85 °C) on the specific mass, specific heat, thermal diffusivity and thermal conductivity of umbu pulp were studied. The specific mass decreased when the moisture content and temperature increased, and the thermal diffusivity and thermal conductivity increased as
