Effect of Pulpectomy on Dentin Hardness

The effect of pulp removal on dentin hardness was tested on dog teeth. Pulp removal did not decrease the dentin hardness, but it stopped further growth and maturation of younger teeth, resulting in thinner and softer dentin in comparison with that of unoperated teeth. Such an effect was particularly noticeable in coronal portions.
