Pulpectomy – studies on outcome

Endodontic Topics, 2003
This review is about treatment measures, which may impact outcome of the pulpectomy procedure in endodontic therapy. Clinical trials, conducted over the years, formed the basis for the analysis. Periapical neural changes after pulpectomy

Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, Oral Radiology, and Endodontology, 1995
Pulpectomy and pulpal necrosis result in severance of the nerves that supply the pulp as well as loss of their target organ. Inflammatory changes commonly extend into the periapical region to involve those nerves. The neural response to pulpal loss combined with periapical inflammation is a derangement of the periodontal plexus normally located in the ...

Effect of Pulpectomy on Dentin Hardness

Journal of Dental Research, 1969
The effect of pulp removal on dentin hardness was tested on dog teeth. Pulp removal did not decrease the dentin hardness, but it stopped further growth and maturation of younger teeth, resulting in thinner and softer dentin in comparison with that of unoperated teeth. Such an effect was particularly noticeable in coronal portions.

A comparison of pulpectomy alone versus pulpectomy with trephination for the relief of pain

Journal of Endodontics, 1996
Patients who when initially seen have pain of endodontic origin have a higher incidence of posttreatment pain than those who are pain-free pretreatment. The purpose of this study was to compare two methods of treatment--pulpectomy alone or pulpectomy with trephination--for the reduction of posttreatment pain in patients presenting with acute ...

Pain suppression after pulpectomy with preoperative flurbiprofen

Journal of Endodontics, 1987

Realites cliniques : revue europeenne d'odontologie, 1992
There are many circumstances under which the condition of the pulp calls for root canal work, due to the real or potential risk of pain, infection, inflammation or functional difficulties (acute, irreversible pulpitis, chronic pulpitic conditions, necrosis and its consequences, etc.).

Endodontic treatment completion following emergency pulpectomy.

Community dental health, 2010
Emergency pulpectomy is frequently performed to relieve pain experienced by patients following acute episodes of endodontic pain, or to limit the risks of infection or possible root resorption following traumatic pulpal exposures. The aim of this study was to examine subsequent patient attendance for completion of root canal treatment following ...
