Clinical Evaluation of Three Direct Pulp Capping Materials in Caries‐Induced Pulpitis of Mature Permanent Teeth: A Randomized Controlled Trial

open access: yesClinical and Experimental Dental Research, Volume 12, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Objectives Direct pulp capping (DPC) preserves pulp vitality in caries‐exposed permanent teeth, but clinical evidence comparing different capping materials and identifying prognostic factors remains limited. This study evaluated the success of DPC with iRoot BP Plus, mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA), and calcium hydroxide (CH), and explored ...

In Vitro Evaluation of Novel Calcium Silicate‐Based and Resin‐Modified Calcium Silicate Materials: Cytocompatibility and Mineralization Potential on Human Dental Pulp Stem Cells for Pulp Repair

open access: yesMicroscopy Research and Technique, Volume 89, Issue 6, Page 932-947, June 2026.
This study demonstrates that Biodentine XP exhibits superior cytocompatibility, promotes odontogenic differentiation, and enhances mineralization in human dental pulp stem cells, supporting its use in regenerative endodontics. Resin‐modified materials showed lower bioactivity, highlighting the importance of material composition in pulp therapy outcomes.

Unraveling Oral Dysbiosis: Microbial Complexity in Common Oral Diseases

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 3, June 2026.
The oral microbiome undergoes dynamic establishment from birth, maturing into a resilient ecosystem. Perturbation of this homeostasis—driven by dietary, immunological, and anatomical factors—triggers dysbiosis, which underpins the pathogenesis of major oral diseases, including dental caries, periodontal disease, salivary gland disorders, oral mucosal ...

Six-Month Treatment Outcomes of Vital Pulp Therapy in Adults Using Biomaterials: A Prospective Cohort Pilot Study

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Vital pulp therapy (VPT) preserves dental pulp and its functions, offering a minimally invasive alternative to root canal therapy. However, the impact of patient-related factors on success remains unclear. This study aimed to estimate the sample size for

Oral Health‐Related Quality of Life of Western Australian Refugee Children With Childhood Caries

open access: yesAustralian Dental Journal, Volume 71, Issue 2, Page 192-200, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Objectives Dental caries remains the most common chronic childhood condition and in Australia persists as a leading cause of potentially preventable hospitalisation. Despite various public health initiatives and improvements in oral health among the wider community, significant disparities exist among refugee families due to the unique ...

Real‐Life Workup of Chronic Hand Eczema Using a Dedicated Case Report Form: A SIDAPA Multicentre Study

open access: yesContact Dermatitis, Volume 94, Issue 6, Page 662-676, June 2026.
From January 2024 to May 2025, 207 patients (68.6% females) affected by CHE were enrolled to be clinically and etiologically investigated using a case report form specifically developed. The accurate workup led to clinical and etiological classification of CHE in about 80% of patients, allowing tailored treatment strategies. ABSTRACT Background Chronic

Endodontic diagnostics training in undergraduate dental education: An observational pilot study on AI‐driven virtual patient e‐learning

open access: yesInternational Endodontic Journal, Volume 59, Issue 6, Page 1145-1159, June 2026.
Abstract Aim To develop and evaluate an e‐learning tool utilizing a generative pre‐trained transformer (GPT), a form of artificial intelligence (AI), to allow for realistic conversation on virtual patients when undergoing training on how to diagnose diseases of endodontic origin, and to evaluate improvements in self‐perceived skills.
