The Australia Telescope National Facility Pulsar Catalogue [PDF]

open access: yesAstronomical Journal, 2005
We have compiled a new and complete catalog of the main properties of the 1509 pulsars for which published information currently exists. The catalog includes all spin-powered pulsars, as well as anomalous X-ray pulsars and soft gamma-ray repeaters showing coherent pulsed emission, but excludes accretion-powered systems.

Identifying Companions in Pulsar Binary Systems via Gaia Data

open access: yesUniverse
In the optical band, very few pulsars can be directly detected, but some of the pulsar binary companions can be observed. This study leverages high-precision astrometric data from Gaia Data Release 3 (DR3) to identify pulsar companions in binary systems.

The MeerKAT telescope as a pulsar facility: System verification and early science results from MeerTime [PDF]

open access: yesPublications of the Astronomical Society of Australia, 2020
AbstractWe describe system verification tests and early science results from the pulsar processor (PTUSE) developed for the newly commissioned 64-dish SARAO MeerKAT radio telescope in South Africa. MeerKAT is a high-gain (${\sim}2.8\,\mbox{K Jy}^{-1}$) low-system temperature (${\sim}18\,\mbox{K at }20\,\mbox{cm}$) radio array that currently operates at

Probing the Solar Interior with Lensed Gravitational Waves from Known Pulsars

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
When gravitational waves (GWs) from a spinning neutron star arrive from behind the Sun, they are subjected to gravitational lensing that imprints a frequency-dependent modulation on the waveform.

The Future of Pulsar Research and Facilities [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the International Astronomical Union, 2017
AbstractRadio pulsars have been responsible for many astonishing astrophysical and fundamental physics breakthroughs since their discovery 50 years ago. In this review I will discuss many of the highlights, most of which were only possible because of the provision of large-scale observing facilities.

Future Facilities for Gamma-Ray Pulsar Studies [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium - International Astronomical Union, 2004
Pulsars seen at gamma-ray energies offer insight into particle acceleration to very high energies, along with information about the geometry and interaction processes in the magnetospheres of these rotating neutron stars. During the next decade, a number of new gamma-ray facilities will become available for pulsar studies.

Studying pulsars with the SKA and other new facilities [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Astronomical Union Colloquium, 2000
Abstract The Square Kilometre Array (SKA) is a proposed next generation radio telescope. Between now and 2005 this project is in a technology development and prototyping phase, with construction likely to begin in ~ 2010. This paper describes what the SKA may be like, its key features, the motivation for building it and where you can access more ...

Understanding the Neutron Star Population with the SKAO telescopes

open access: yesThe Open Journal of Astrophysics
The known population of non-accreting neutron stars is ever growing and currently consists of more than 3500 sources. Pulsar surveys with the SKAO telescopes will greatly increase the known population, adding radio pulsars to every subgroup in the radio ...
