General track of pulsar evolution

Astrophysics and Space Science, 1983
It is shown that large mulling, small luminosity and a large value of polarization angle variation are, together, a good indication of a pulsar's old age. Selection effects connected with the discovery of pulsars are analyzed. The general track of pulsar evolution, along which the diagram of pulsar emission and the angle between the magnetic and ...

Generation of Radio Waves in Pulsars

Nature, 1970
Pulsars generate radio waves by an unknown process which gives the highest volume emissivity known in astrophysics. The radiation forms a beam the width and polarization of which are independent of frequency. This article assembles the observational facts which any theory of emission must explain.

An Artificial Pulsar-signal Generator for Pulsar Search

Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics
Abstract Pulsars, which are spinning neutron stars emit regular pulses and are essential to time-domain radio astronomy. Numerous observatories concentrate on detecting and researching faint pulsar signals, especially at radio frequencies.

On a mechanism of magnetic field generation in pulsars

Astrophysics, 1981
Consideration is given to a two-component superfluid neutron-proton Fermi liquid in the npe phase of a neutron star. Equations are obtained for the thermal Green functions and the anomalous expectation values of the two-component Fermi liquid. The Green functions are used to obtain an expression for the superconducting proton current and an equation ...

Generation of the magnetic fields of pulsars

Astrophysics, 2000
The influence of the effect of entrainment of superconducting protons by superfluid neutrons on the distribution of neutron vortices in a rotating neutron star is investigated. It is shown that the proton vortex clusters generated by entrainment currents create the magnetic structure of a neutron vortex.

The generation parameter and γ-ray pulsars

Chinese Astronomy and Astrophysics, 1998
Abstract We have calculated the generation parameters for known γ-ray pulsars after allowing for observational effects. The calculated generation parameters show a good linear relation with the observed spectral indices. They are all numerically greater than 2.0, and we suggest that this fact can be used as a criterion for γ-ray pulsar.

Generation of magnetic fields in pulsars

Soviet Journal of Low Temperature Physics, 1983
We consider a new mechanism of generation of magnetic fields in neutron stars, based on the superfluidity and superconductivity of neutrons and protons in the “pre” phase of a neutron star. The currents of neutron “drag” of protons results in the formation of a dense network of proton vortices around a neutron vortex.

Pulsar Frequencies and General Relativity

Physical Review Letters, 1968
The shift of pulsar frequencies due to the general-relativistic corrections to the optical path of photons in the field of the sun is discussed. Remarks concerning its detection are added.

General Relativity Measurements from Pulsars

2020
In this chapter, after a brief description of radio pulsars and their different manifestations, we illustrate the case of the so-called relativistic binary pulsars, which are fast-spinning neutron stars in orbit with a compact companion star, either a white dwarf or a second neutron star.

General Relativistic Influence on Observed Pulsar Frequencies if Pulsars are Orbiting Objects

Nature, 1968
Recently 1, I pointed out that pulsars might be a means of making a new test of the general theory of relativity by providing a stable extra-terrestrial frequency standard against which the differential general relativistic effect on terrestrial clock rates at perihelion and aphelion could be measured.
