Pulsatile ocular blood flow [PDF]

open access: yesBritish Journal of Ophthalmology, 1998
Although the eye is the only organ in the body in which blood vessels are readily visible, a technique for the accurate and reproducible measurement of ocular blood flow and its component parts has proved elusive.1 The increasing likelihood of a multifactorial pathogenesis for glaucoma and possible importance of optic nerve head perfusion in the ...

Hemodynamics of Stent Implantation Procedures in Coronary Bifurcations: an in vitro study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Stent implantation in coronary bifurcations presents unique challenges and currently there is no universally accepted stent deployment approach. Despite clinical and computational studies, to date, the effect of each stent implantation method on the ...

Magnetic Field Driven Microrobot Based on Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Hydrogel‐based magnetic microrobots synergize remote magnetic control with the biocompatibility of flexible hydrogels, emerging as promising tools for minimally invasive biomedicine. This enables remotely controllable, untethered navigation within complex biological microenvironments.

Pulsatile Flow Patterns in Distensible Tubes [PDF]

open access: yesCirculation Research, 1966
Pulsatile flow patterns in polyvinyl tubes were visualized by means of streaming birefringence and compared with those obtained using an electromagnetic flowmeter. At low flow rates the frequency spectrum of the birefringence pattern is similar to that of volume flow.

Magnetic Micro‐ and Nanorobots for Precision Thrombolysis: Design Strategies and Translational Challenges

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Micro‐ and nanorobots for targeted thrombolysis. This perspective elaborates on the clinical indication of blood clot disorders and current limitations for treatment. As a novel, alternative solution, micro‐ and nanorobots can be used to treat and break down thrombi.

The influence of flow parameters on the transition to turbulence in pulsatile flow

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2014
The paper is focused on the experimental investigation of the flow parameters influence (stationary component of flow, frequency, amplitude) on the transition to turbulence in pulsatile flow in a straight square channel.

Vortex dynamics under pulsatile flow in axisymmetric constricted tubes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
An improved understanding of how vortices develop and propagate under pulsatile flow can shed important light on the mixing and transport processes including the transition to turbulent regime occurring in such systems.

Sleep Alters the Velocity of Physiological Brain Pulsations in Humans

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Sleep alters I/CSF oscillatory flow, driven by increased respiratory (29%) and vasomotor pulsation (21%) velocities, while cardiovascular pulsations decreased by (22%). Velocity is quantified using optical flow analysis of MREG data. Spectral power increases alongside these pulsations (spatial correlation, r = 0.35 and r = 0.39, respectively ...
