Experimental research on heat transfer of pulsating heat pipe

Journal of Thermal Science, 2008
Experimental research was conducted to understand heat transfer characteristic of pulsating heat pipe in this paper, and the PHP is made of high quality glass capillary tube. Under different fill ratio, heat transfer rate and many other influence factors, the flow patterns were observed in the start-up, transition and stable stage.

Performances of Flat Plate Pulsating Heat Pipes

ASME 2009 Second International Conference on Micro/Nanoscale Heat and Mass Transfer, Volume 3, 2009
Flat plate pulsating heat pipe is useful for hot spot heat spreader. Two kinds of flat plate spreader of pulsating heat pipe are designed, fabricated and experimented. For the embedded circular capillary type, the transferred heat flux could reach 32W/cm2, the smallest thermal resistance for acetone, methanol and FC-72 were respectively 0.50, 0.57 and ...

Microgravity performance of micro pulsating heat pipes

Microgravity - Science and Technology, 2005
A micro pulsating heat pipe made of a thin clear Teflon tube of 1.6 mm ID was used to observe the pulsating flow inside a heat pipe under different gravity levels using parabolic flights. More vigorous pulsating flow was observed under microgravity, compared to the depressed movements under hypergravity.

Working Fluid Selection for Pulsating Heat Pipes

42nd AIAA Thermophysics Conference, 2011
The Pulsating Heat Pipe (PHP) is a novel, simply formed, wickless heat pipe that relies on the phase change induced motion of a contained working fluid to transport heat between the evaporator (hot end) and condenser (cold end). The improved heat transfer capability (effective conductivities of more than 18,000 W/m-K at 105 W/cm), simplicity, and ...

Heat Transfer Characteristics of Aluminum Plate Pulsating Heat Pipes

ASME 2011 Pacific Rim Technical Conference and Exhibition on Packaging and Integration of Electronic and Photonic Systems, MEMS and NEMS: Volume 2, 2011
Heat transfer characteristics of an aluminum plate pulsating heat pipe (PHPs) were investigated experimentally. Sizes, consisting of parallel and square channels as well as different cross-sections and different number of turns were considered. Acetone was used as working fluid.

Fabrication of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) pulsating heat pipe

Applied Thermal Engineering, 2009
Abstract This paper reports on the preliminary experimental results of using polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) to manufacture a visual pulsating heat pipe with length, width and internal diameter of 56 mm, 50 mm and 2 mm, respectively, including the manufacturing process, the vacuuming management for filling and packaging.

Operating Characteristic Investigations in Pulsating Heat Pipe

Journal of Heat Transfer, 2006
Pulsating heat pipe (PHP) is an interesting heat transfer device. In this paper we focus on PHP heat transfer characteristics versus its operating temperature. In experiments of copper and stainless steel PHPs, results indicate that, at a same input power, both the total temperature differences (from the evaporator to condenser) and the evaporator ...
