The Pulsational Behaviour of Variable Stars in the Lower Part of the Instability Strip [PDF]
The lower part of the classical instability strip and the surrounding main sequence are populated by a large variety of pulsating variable stars. In the past years a great effort was made by the stellar group of Brera Observatory to collect a large amount of photometric and spectroscopic data on Delta Sct stars, the more numerous class. In this paper I

Equidistant frequency triplets in pulsating stars: The Combination Mode Hypothesis
Multiplet structures are a common feature in pulsating stars, and can be the consequence of rotational splitting, mode interaction or sinusoidal amplitude variations.

An Experimental High‐Throughput Approach for the Screening of Hard Magnet Materials
An entire workflow for the high‐throughput characterization and analysis of compositionally graded magnetic films is presented. Characterization protocols, data management tools and data analysis approaches are illustrated with test case Sm(Fe, V)12 based films.

KIC 6362386: An Eclipsing Binary with γ Doradus–type Pulsations and Starspots
KIC 6362386 is an eclipsing binary system that exhibits both γ Doradus ( γ Dor)–type pulsations and starspots. In this study, we investigated this binary system using the Kepler photometry and the spectroscopic data from the Large Sky Area Multi-Object ...

Nondestructive Testing of Welded Composite Metal Foams
X‐ray computed tomography (CT) is used to evaluate welded steel–steel composite metal foam (CMF) joints of two density classes. It reports variation in postweld spatial void distribution and correlates it to weld‐induced changes, mechanical performance, and failure within welded CMF panels.

Pulsating Variable Stars in Local Group Dwarf Galaxies [PDF]
AbstractPulsating variables stars have had a long and prominent history in helping to map out the local Universe. Current observational techniques now make it possible to identify examples of all non-degenerate radial pulsating variables throughout much of the Local Group.

New results on the behavior of the double-mode RR Lyrae V338 Boo are presented. The Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) observed this star again in 2022, and an observing campaign of the American Association of Variable Star Observers (AAVSO ...

Aluminum and nitride coatings are used in industry because they are hard, resist wear, and protect against oxidation. Adding boron can improve friction behavior and other properties. This study tests coatings on surfaces with different finishes. Results show smoother surfaces perform better, while rough ones wear faster, although coatings can reduce ...
