Variable Blue Straggler Stars in the Open Cluster NGC 6819 Observed in the Kepler “Superstamp” Field

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal, 2023
NGC 6819 is an open cluster of age 2.4 Gyr that was in the NASA Kepler spacecraft’s field of view from 2009 to 2013. The central part of the cluster was observed in a 200 × 200 pixel “superstamp” during these four years in 30 minute cadence photometry ...

ON THE MAGNETIC VARIABILITY OF PULSATING STARS

open access: yesOdessa Astronomical Publications, 2017
The variations of the effective magnetic field strength of the magnetic stars a 2 CVn, b CrB and of the pulsating stars RR Lyr and V 474 Mon are studied on the base of the spectrograms obtained at the 6-m telescope. The variation with the phase of the 0d.567 pulsating period was found in R Lyr.

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Chaos in variable stars: Topological analysis of W Vir model pulsations [PDF]

open access: yesChaos: An Interdisciplinary Journal of Nonlinear Science, 1996
The topological characterization of chaos is applied to the irregular pulsations of a model for a star of the W Virginis type, computed with a state-of-the-art numerical hydrodynamical code. The banded W Vir attractor is found to possess an additional twist when compared to the Rössler band.

Effects of IGFBP4 deficiency on human preadipocyte proliferation and differentiation through the IGF1R/AKT pathway

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
IGFBP4 knockdown (KD) impairs preadipocyte proliferation and is associated with IGF1R protein downregulation and attenuated AKT phosphorylation. The mechanisms by which IGFBP4 KD influences the IGF1R/AKT signaling pathway involve newly synthesized proteins and lysosomal degradation pathways. Created in BioRender.

Efficacy of Intermittent Theta‐Burst Stimulation for Prolonged Disorders of Consciousness: A Prospective, Randomized, Controlled Trial

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Emerging evidence suggests that low‐frequency neural oscillations are dynamically regulated by consciousness levels, with the recovery of low cortical activity potentially serving as a neurophysiological substrate for conscious emergence. Targeted enhancement of these low‐frequency rhythms in patients with disorders of consciousness

Epilepsy‐Associated Variants of a Single SCN1A Codon Exhibit Divergent Functional Properties

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Pathogenic variants in SCN1A, which encodes the voltage‐gated sodium channel NaV1.1, are associated with multiple epilepsy syndromes exhibiting a range of clinical severity. SCN1A variants are reported in different syndromes, including Dravet syndrome, which is associated with loss‐of‐function, whereas neonatal/infantile‐onset ...

CY Aquarii: A Triple System with Twin Companions

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
In this study, we conducted a comprehensive analysis of the SX Phoenicis (SX Phe) type star CY Aquarii (CY Aqr). Our investigation included a detailed O − C analysis based on a 90 yr observational data set, augmented by 1367 newly determined times of ...
