Experimental demonstration of pulse amplitude modulated visible light communications

2014 IEEE 3rd Global Conference on Consumer Electronics (GCCE), 2014
We experimentally demonstrate a visible light communication (VLC) system using pulse amplitude modulation (PAM). A commercially available phosphorised white LED is used as the optical transmitter and a Si photodiode (PD) is used as the optical receiver.

Optimum pulse amplitude modulation--II: Inclusion of timing jitter

IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 1967
A method is presented for specifying transmitter waveforms and receiver filters for pulse amplitude modulation (PAM) systems which are subject to distortion from additive noise, intersymbol interference, and timing jitter. A criterion of minimum mean-squared error is used. For the case of band-limited transmission, specific procedures are developed for

Pulse amplitude and delay modulation for indoor optical wireless communications

2014 International Conference on Computer, Communications, and Control Technology (I4CT), 2014
Pulse amplitude and delay modulation technique “PADM” for power efficient indoor optical wireless communications is proposed in this paper. PADM symbol structure and other specifications were investigated and compared to existing power efficient modulation techniques like PPM, DPPM, DPIM and DH-PIM.

New pulse amplitude modulation for fine tuning of memristor synapses

Microelectronics Journal, 2016
Nanoscale memristors can be used as synapses in brain-mimicking neuromorphic systems. Here, the fine tuning of memristor conductance is important in controlling the synapse weights precisely, because the coarse tuning of memristor synapses can cause a significant error in neuromorphic processing.

Multiple pulse amplitude and position modulation for optical wireless channel

2015 Seventh International Conference on Ubiquitous and Future Networks, 2015
There are various modulation schemes suitable for optical wireless communications. Among these schemes, the multiple pulse position modulation scheme (MPPM) was proved to be more power efficient than other modulation schemes such as: on off keying (OOK), pulse amplitude modulation (PAM) and pulse position modulation (PPM)[1].
