Quantitative bounded method of special long-period ground motions
The resonance effect of special long-period ground motions to (super) high-rise buildings is significant, which is likely to cause serious damage to these long-period structures. Therefore, the influence of long-period ground motions cannot be ignored in

Accounting for directivity-induced pulse-like ground motions in building portfolio loss assessment [PDF]
Earthquake-induced pulse-like ground motions are often observed in near-source conditions due to forward-directivity. Recent worldwide earthquakes have emphasised the severe damage potential of such pulse-like ground motions.

Directivity-Induced Pulse-Like Ground Motions and Fracture Risk of Pre-Northridge Welded Column Splices [PDF]
Recent worldwide earthquakes have emphasized the severe damage potential of pulse-like ground motions caused by forward directivity close to a fault rupture.

Optimization and performance assessment of tuned mass damper inerter systems for control of buildings subjected to pulse-like ground motions [PDF]
Optimal tuned mass damper inerter (TMDI) systems in controlling displacement demands on structures affected by pulse-like near fault ground motions is presented.

A hybrid method to identify pulse-like ground motions and pulse periods based on ST-CNN
The rapid and precise identification of the pulse-like ground motions is a key challenge that perplexes both the academic and engineering communities. The quantitative identification methods can overcome the empirical limitations of manual identification.

The article investigates response mitigation of a reinforced concrete (RC) chimney subjected to pulse-like near-fault ground motions using tuned mass damper (TMD) schemes. The total height of the chimney is 265 m with a mass of 11,109 ton.

Drosophila park mutants serve as a model for Parkinson's disease. We used this strain to investigate the connection between oxidative stress and the circadian clock mechanism. We showed that increased oxidative stress affects the physiology of pacemaker cells, disrupting their daily structural plasticity. Lack of rhythmic signaling from pacemaker cells

Nuclear pore links Fob1‐dependent rDNA damage relocation to lifespan control
Damaged rDNA accumulates at a specific perinuclear interface that couples nucleolar escape with nuclear envelope association. Nuclear pores at this site help inhibit Fob1‐induced rDNA instability. This spatial organization of damage handling supports a functional link between nuclear architecture, rDNA stability, and replicative lifespan in yeast.
