Corrigan’s Pulse and Quincke’s Pulse

New England Journal of Medicine, 2018
Corrigan’s Pulse and Quincke’s Pulse A 58-year-old man with a bioprosthetic aortic valve presented with exertional dyspnea. Videos show rapidly declining pulsation of the right carotid artery and capillary pulsation of the index finger, thumb, and nail bed, findings suggestive of severe aortic regurgitation.

Localization Aftereffects with Pulse-Tone and Pulse-Pulse Stimuli

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1965
When a pulse is presented from one position in space near in time to the beginning of a tone burst coming from another position in space, the tone burst may be perceived to be displaced toward the pulse. Measurements of displacement effects are given for various angles of separation of sources and duration of tone. A related type of displacement effect

Divided-pulse amplification of ultrashort pulses

Optics Letters, 2006
We propose and demonstrate a new approach, to the best of our knowledge, for avoiding nonlinear effects in the amplification of ultrashort optical pulses. The initial pulse is divided longitudinally into a sequence of lower-energy pulses that are otherwise identical to the original, except for the polarization.

Pulse on Pulse Deinterleaving Radar Algorithm

2020 10th Annual Computing and Communication Workshop and Conference (CCWC), 2020
This paper intends to demonstrate interleaving radar pulses extracted from a deinterleaving algorithm and to discuss the problems encountered from deinterleaving radar pulses. The deinterleaving algorithm will be handling multiple pulse trains at a time.

To Pulse or Not to Pulse, Is That the Question?

Circulation, 2015
Efferent sympathetic nerve discharge is both gated to the cardiac cycle and inhibited by afferent input from cardiac, aortic, and carotid mechanoreceptors stimulated by rhythmic atrial and conduit artery distension. In patients with chronic heart failure as a consequence of impaired systolic function, both this gating and the blood pressure–muscle ...

To Pulse or Not to Pulse

The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 1978
Pulsatile and nonpulsatile blood flow have been intensely studied for cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB), isolated organ perfusion, and myocardial preservation. Although early studies differed, later ones have shown the benefits of pulsatile flow. Kidney function, lymph flow, and oxygen consumption are increased during pulsatile perfusion. Also, nonpulsatile

Pulse-by-pulse reoptimization of the synthesis filter in pulse-based coders

IEEE Transactions on Speech and Audio Processing, 1998
Two iterative algorithms for pulse-based linear predictive (PB-LP) analysis are developed. At the kth step, one of the algorithms assumes that the pulse locations of k pulses are known and calculates the LP coefficients jointly with k pulse amplitudes. In contrast, the other algorithm assumes that the previous k-1 pulse amplitudes are known and jointly
