Extracting Predominant Local Pulse Information From Music Recordings
IEEE Transactions on Audio Speech and Language Processing, 2011The extraction of tempo and beat information from music recordings constitutes a challenging task in particular for non-percussive music with soft note onsets and time-varying tempo. In this paper, we introduce a novel mid-level representation that captures musically meaningful local pulse information even for the case of complex music.

Pulse-dependent analyses of percussive music

Resonance in the Perception of Musical Pulse
Journal of New Music Research, 1999A number of phenomena related to the perception of isochronous tone sequences peak at a certain rate (or tempo) and taper off at both slower and faster rates. In the present paper we start from the hypothesis that the peaking finds its origin in the presence of a damped resonating oscillator in the perceptual-motor system.

Malaysian Journal of Medicine and Health Sciences, 2022Introduction: Music of varying tempo or beats have physiological as well as adverse effects on the body. This study throws light on the influence of upbeat music on properties of radial pulse, in healthy young adults. Methods: One hundred and seventy-five students between the age of nineteen and twenty-four years were included in this study.
