Transient combustion responses of homogeneous propellants to acoustic oscillations in axisymmetric rocket motors [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
A numerical analysis of unsteady motions in solid rocket motors has been conducted. The formulation considers a 2-D axisymmetric combustion chamber and a choke nozzle, and treats the complete conservation equations accounting for turbulence closure ...

ABLATIVE PRESSURE PULSE

open access: yes, 2021
<div> We examine herein a simple model for the evolution in time of the pressure which a suddenly vaporized, ablating layer exerts upon the subjacent body. The model invokes a plausible construct of surface material instantaneously thrust into a gaseous regime governed by a Maxwell-Boltzmann phase space distribution.

The Role of Calcitonin Gene‐Related Peptide in High‐Altitude Headache: A Prospective Field Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective High‐altitude headache (HAH) is a common neurological condition associated with rapid ascent to high altitude. The pathophysiological mechanisms underlying HAH remain incompletely understood. Calcitonin gene‐related peptide (CGRP), a neuropeptide implicated in migraine pathophysiology, may play a key role in the pathophysiology of ...

Analysis of the transient process in underwater spark discharges [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
lf water is stressed with a voltage pulse having a rise time of tens of nanoseconds which creates a sufficiently high electric field, streamers develop and a highly conductive channel forms between the electrodes.

Doppler indexes of left ventricular systolic and diastolic flow and central pulse pressure in relation to renal resistive index.

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Hypertension, 2015
BACKGROUND The cardio-renal interaction occurs via hemodynamic and humoral factors. Noninvasive assessment of renal hemodynamics is currently possible by assessment of renal resistive index (RRI) derived from intrarenal Doppler arterial waveforms as ...

A Systematic Comparison of Alpha‐Synuclein Seed Amplification Assays for Increasing Reproducibility

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Seed amplification assays (SAAs) enable ultrasensitive detection of misfolded α‐synuclein across biofluids and tissues. Yet, heterogeneity in protocols limits cross‐study comparability and clinical translation. Here, we review α‐synuclein SAA methods and their performance across various biological matrices.

Recurrent Hypothermia and Autonomic Dysfunction Secondary to Shapiro Syndrome

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A 44‐year‐old man presented with recurrent hypothermia, diaphoresis and hypertension. Extensive investigation for infectious, inflammatory, metabolic and endocrine aetiologies was negative. MR scan of the brain demonstrated no lesions but revealed callosal dysgenesis, consistent with Shapiro syndrome.

An ultrasonic approach for contact stress mapping in machine joints and concentrated contacts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The measurement of pressure at a contact in a machine part is important because contact stresses frequently lead to failure by seizure, wear or fatigue.

Pulse pressure and arterial elasticity [PDF]

open access: yesQJM, 2002
The last decade has seen increased interest in the mechanical interaction between the heart and the arterial system. In particular, it has been suggested that increased arterial stiffness is associated with the development of cardiovascular disease and may even predict its development at an early stage before vascular lesions or external symptoms ...

Clinical Practice Guideline for Evaluation and Management of Peripheral Nervous System Manifestations in Sjögren's Disease

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Sjögren's disease is an autoimmune disorder that can impact multiple organ systems, including the peripheral nervous system (PNS). PNS manifestations, which can exist concurrently, include mononeuropathies, polyneuropathies, and autonomic nervous system neuropathies.
