Poetry to Pulsed Eddy Currents
1999Most papers are about method and results, building blocks in the temples of physics and engineering. And rightly so. But this paper is about process, the process of discovery and of creativity. It is about frustration, joy, commitment, determination, steadfastness, failure, and ultimately triumph.

Electromagnetic Enhancement of Pulsed Eddy Current Signals
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2007The sensitivity of pulsed eddy current (PEC) testing is increased when a layer of magnetic material is placed on the far side of the conductive test piece. This procedure ensures preservation of the lift‐off point of intersection (LOI) feature, otherwise non‐existent for the PEC inspections of magnetic materials.

Eddy Current Pulsed Thermography for Steel Corrosion Characterization
2020 IEEE International Conference on High Voltage Engineering and Application (ICHVE), 2020Corrosion has been perceived as a terribly damaging problem for steel. This work introduces eddy current pulsed thermography (ECPT) with fast, contactless, and high-precision detection for steel corrosion characterization. In this process, time-domain features of transient thermal responses (TTRs) are extracted to characterize corrosion on Q235 steel ...

Research on Differential Pulsed Eddy Current Gap Sensor
2010 International Conference on Electrical and Control Engineering, 2010This Paper is put forward a no-contact gap sensor which is based on pulse eddy current principle and with the application of different coli structure. The experimental results analysis verified that, the influence of distributed parameter could be reduced effectively by using differential pulsed eddy current gap sensor.

Pulsed eddy current nondestructive testing
2003There is an intensive research of pulsed eddy current as a new nondestruc-tive technique. Broadband nature of pulsed excitation potentially enables ex-traction of more information about tested object in a single measurement. Furthermore, lower power consumption of the measurement probe and shorter inspection time can be achieved comparing to the ...

Nondestructive Evaluation Using Pulsed Eddy Current Technology
Journal of the Korean Magnetics Society,

Pulsed Eddy Current Measurement of Lift-Off
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2006It is observed that the slope of pulsed eddy current signals at the Lift‐Off point of Intersection (LOI) depends strongly on the lift‐off. The behaviour of the LOI slope is studied under varying test conditions. The signal response is curve‐fitted to a circuit equivalent non‐linear model using the Levenberg‐Marquardt algorithm and the LOI slope is ...

Element-free Galerkin method in pulsed eddy currents
International Journal of Applied Electromagnetics and Mechanics, 2004Compared with the conventional finite element method that relies on an underlying mesh and element-node connectivity to describe the geometry, meshless method shows its advantage in mesh simplification, tight crack representation and re-meshing process.

Pulsed Eddy-Current Interaction with Subsurface Cracks
1999Calculations have been carried out to evaluate pulsed eddy-current interaction with a planar crack in a conductor. The field is excited by a coil carrying current pulses while crack signals are detected by measuring changes in the magnetic field above the conductor or by monitoring variations in the induced emf across the coil.
