From Thermal Inspection to Updating a Numerical Model of a Race Bicycle: Comparison with Structural Dynamics Approach

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2018
Carbon fiber bicycle frames are complex-shaped structures and are prone to delaminations and difficult to inspect. The use of finite element model updating is common in structural dynamics but not so common in active thermography inspection.

A Bioresorbable Neural Interface for On‐Demand Thermal Pain Block

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 13, 12 February 2026.
Bioresorbable, implantable neural electronics provide dynamic, on‐demand thermal modulation of peripheral nerves for safe, drug‐free pain relief. A microscale thin‐film heater and temperature sensor embedded within biodegradable encapsulants enable precise temperature control via real‐time feedback.

Crack imaging by pulsed laser spot thermography

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2010
A surface crack close to a spot heated by a laser beam impedes lateral heat flow and produces alterations to the shape of the thermal image of the spot that can be monitored by thermography. A full 3D simulation has been developed to simulate heat flow from a laser heated spot in the proximity of a crack.

Curvy Surface Reconstruction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 7, 3 February 2026.
This review introduces the concept of “general curvy surface reconstruction,” which incorporates both geometric and physical dimensions, representing an upgrade over conventional geometric reconstruction that focuses solely on spatial relationships. Particular emphasis is placed on the emerging opportunities enabled by advanced measurement techniques ...

Enhancing Sheep Health and Welfare Through Sensor Technologies: An Update of Current New Zealand Research

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Agricultural Research, Volume 69, Issue 1, February 2026.
The study of farm animal behaviour often relies on labour‐intensive observations, which can be impractical in extensive systems. Advances in technology (e.g. accelerometers and global positioning satellite (GPS) devices) can be used to record behaviours frequently, long‐term and remotely. Monitoring behaviour of livestock, in combination with other key
