E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...

Fluence and wavelength dependent ultrafast differential transmission dynamics in graphene

open access: yesMaterials Research Express, 2020
We performed degenerate pump-probe transmission measurements of graphene supported on glass for a range of pump fluences that enable us to observe both positive and negative deferential transmission dynamics. Our results show that at an intermediate pump

Coherent generation of symmetry-forbidden phonons by light-induced electron-phonon interactions in magnetite

open access: yes, 2017
Symmetry breaking across phase transitions often causes changes in selection rules and emergence of optical modes which can be detected via spectroscopic techniques or generated coherently in pump-probe experiments.

Targeting TNBC: core–shell polycationic polyurea dendrimers with inherent anticancer activity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Core–shell polycationic PURE dendrimers were tested in TNBC‐derived tumor models. Both formulations selectively targeted TNBC and effectively reduced tumor volume. PUREG4‐OEI48 suppressed tumor growth without detectable toxicity, whereas PUREG4‐OCEI24, despite showing efficacy, induced hepatic toxicity.

Extraction of many-body configurations from nonlinear absorption in semiconductor quantum wells

open access: yes, 2009
Detailed electronic many-body configurations are extracted from quantitatively measured timeresolved nonlinear absorption spectra of resonantly excited GaAs quantum wells.

Raman‐based label‐free microscopic analysis of the pancreas in living zebrafish larvae

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Forward stimulated Raman scattering (F‐SRS) and epi coherent anti‐Stokes Raman scattering (E‐CARS) allow label‐free discrimination of distinct subcellular structures in the pancreas of living zebrafish larvae. Given the straightforward applicability, we anticipate broad implementation of Raman microscopy in other organs and across various biomedical ...

Influence of laser-excited electron distributions on the x-ray magnetic circular dichroism spectra: Implications for femtosecond demagnetization in Ni

open access: yes, 2009
In pump-probe experiments an intensive laser pulse creates non-equilibrium excited electron distributions in the first few hundred femtoseconds after the pulse.

Pioglitazone plus (−)‐epigallocatechin gallate: a novel approach to enhance osteogenic performance in aged bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Aged human bmMSCs are seeded in the scaffold. Osteoblastic induction can slightly increase cell's bone‐forming activity to produce bone‐like tissues, shown as the sporadic xylenol orange‐stained spots (the lower left image). Notably, pioglitazone plus EGCG co‐treatment dramatically increases cell's bone‐forming activity and bone‐like tissue production (

Tunneling Control of Transmission Coefficient and Group Index in a Quantum Dot Nanostructure

open access: yesAdvances in Condensed Matter Physics, 2014
We theoretically study the transmission and group index properties of the probe field in a four-level quantum dot molecule. It is found that the tunnel coupling plays a very important role in realizing the transmission coefficient of the probe field ...
