Review of Water Supply, Treatment and Distribution: Overcoming Challenges for Sustainable Management

open access: yesWater and Environment Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Water management faces increasing challenges driven by population growth, accelerated urbanization and climate change, demanding integrated and sustainable approaches to ensure the preservation of water resources. Water scarcity and rising demand intensify the vulnerability of various regions, threatening both water supply and environmental ...

Cerebral oxygenation and skeletal muscle responses to time trial, maximal oxygen uptake and time to exhaustion exercise

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract This study investigated cerebral and neuromuscular responses to three exercise models: time trial (TT), maximal oxygen uptake (V̇O2max${{\dot{V}}_{{{{\mathrm{O}}}_2}{\mathrm{max}}}}$) and time to exhaustion (TTE). Fourteen participants completed the tests in the following order: V̇O2max${{\dot{V}}_{{{{\mathrm{O}}}_2}{\mathrm{max}}}}$, TT and ...

Investigating & Improving the Drooping Curve of A Two-Stage Feed Pump [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
TutorialsA two-stage between-bearing pump of the upgraded material was supplied to replace the existing machine. The pump utilized a higher number of impeller blades to obtain higher efficiency at its design point, but exhibited a drooping head-flow ...

Sprint‐interval training with post‐exercise blood flow restriction increases mitochondrial content and respiration

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend The mechanisms underpinning improved maximal oxygen uptake following sprint interval training (SIT) with post‐exercise blood flow restriction (BFR), compared to SIT alone, remain unclear. This study examined the effects of 6 week SIT with (BFR; n = 12) or without (CON; n = 8) post‐exercise BFR on V̇O2peak${{\dot{V}}_{{{{\mathrm{O}

Pump turbines in existing powerplants

open access: yes, 2019

Base Plate Corrosion and Premature Bearing failure in RO Pump [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Case StudiesOn 19th Aug 2017, abnormal noise noticed from RO (Reverse osmosis) Membrane Feed pump coupling area. Checked the vibration for pump & motor and found very high vibration at Pump Drive end. The vibration level at Pump DE Vertical recorded as 4.

Key Drivers for Offshore Wind Deployment in the Western United States

open access: yesWind Energy, Volume 29, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT The western coast of the United States has abundant natural resources, including wind, sun, and water. Despite strong ocean winds, offshore wind energy (OSW) in the Western United States is in the early stages of technology development due largely to the deep water off the coast, which requires floating platforms rather than fixed‐bottom ...

Improved Suter Transform for Pump-Turbine Characteristics

open access: yesInternational Journal of Fluid Machinery and Systems, 2010
Standard dimensionless parameters cannot simultaneously represent all operation modes of a pump-turbine. They either have singularities at E=0 and multiple values in the ‘unstable’ areas, or else get singular at n=0. P. Suter (1966) introduced an alternative set of variables which avoids singularity and always remains unique-valued.
