Flow-Induced Instabilities in Pump-Turbines in China
The stability of pump-turbines is of great importance to the operation of pumped storage power (PSP) stations. Both hydraulic instabilities and operational instabilities have been reported in PSP stations in China. In order to provide a reference to the engineers and scientists working on pump-turbines, this paper summarizes the hydraulic instabilities

This study demonstrates the feasibility of an underground closed‐loop thermal storage facility at a post‐mining site, intended for seasonal heat energy storage. Its principal design shows water flow directions in winter and summer (1, 2), heat pumps (3), an upper water reservoir (4), and connecting pipes (5).

Flow characteristics analysis of an extra–high–head pump–turbine with splitter–blades under high pressure-pulsation condition [PDF]
The new energy system aims to provide reliable, affordable and sustainable energy, and ultimately achieve carbon neutrality. But the unstable renewable energy sources including wind and solar increase the risk to the grid and the power system. The pumped–

Numerical analysis on pump turbine runaway points
To research the character of pump turbine runaway points with different guide vane opening, a hydraulic model was established based on a pumped storage power station. The RNG k-? model and SMPLEC algorithms was used to simulate the internal flow fields. The result of the simulation was compared with the test data and good correspondence was got between
