Influence of continuity on punching resistance at edge columns [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The paper considers punching failure at edge columns of reinforced concrete flat slabs without shear reinforcement and unbalanced moments about an axis parallel to the slab edge.

Soft, environmentally degradable microfluidic devices for measurement of sweat rate and total sweat loss and for colorimetric analysis of sweat biomarkers

open access: yesEcoMat, Volume 5, Issue 1, January 2023., 2023
Soft, skin‐interfaced microfluidic systems exploit biodegradable thermoplastic copolyester elastomers for the microfluidic layers, cellulose films and pressure sensitive adhesives as sealing layers, and carefully selected chemical reagents as colorimetric assays for monitoring sweat loss, sweat rate, pH, and chloride concentration.

Punching shear strength and deformation for FRP-reinforced concrete slabs without shear reinforcements

open access: yesCase Studies in Construction Materials, 2022
While very little is known about the punching shear behavior of Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP)-reinforced concrete slabs; thus, very few design codes for this case are available. Most available design codes and guidelines are missing the physical meaning

Prediction of Punching Shear Capacity of Two-Ways FRP Reinforced Concrete Slabs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
An innovative solution to the corrosion problem is the use of fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) as an alternative reinforcing material in concrete structures.

Punching of reinforced concrete flat slabs with holes and shear reinforcement [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Punching shear is a possible type of failure that occurs in reinforced concrete flat slabs, which can develop with an ultimate load below flexural capacity.

High‐Entropy Ti, Zr, Hf, Ta Multiphase Diboride with Deformation Resistance up to 2000 °C

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Ceramics are brittle and strength decreases with temperature. The multiphase high‐entropy (Ti0.25Ta0.25Hf0.25Zr0.25)B2 with heterogeneity at the nano‐ and microscale demonstrates deformation resistance up to 2000 °C, with maximum bending strength at 1800 °C.

Investigation of punching shear behavior of flat slabs with different types and arrangements of shear reinforcement

open access: yesCase Studies in Construction Materials, 2022
Punching shear behavior is experimentally investigated through testing a total of thirteen reinforced concrete flat slabs. Four different types of punching shear reinforcement configurations are examined, namely, ordinary closed rectangular stirrups (ST ...

Stratum Corneum‐Inspired Zwitterionic Hydrogels with Intrinsic Water Retention and Anti‐Freezing Properties for Intelligent Flexible Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A novel stratum corneum‐inspired zwitterionic hydrogel is developed for intelligent, flexible sensors, featuring intrinsic water retention and anti‐freezing properties. The quasi‐gel, composed of hygroscopic polymers and bound water, maintains its softness across a wide range of humidity.

Dynamic Networks via Polymerizable Deep Eutectic Monomers for Uniform Li+ Transport at Interfaces in Lithium Metal Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The PDEM‐based SIGPE provides a dynamic nanophase from Li+‐bridged molecular self‐association, enhancing electrochemical stability and facilitating uniform Li+ ion flux at the interface. This unique solvation structure results in a hetero species‐driven inorganic‐rich SEI and long‐term cycle stability, suggesting that a PFAS‐free Li+‐containing monomer
