Pure O-sequences and matroid h-vectors

open access: yes, 2011
We study Stanley's long-standing conjecture that the h-vectors of matroid simplicial complexes are pure O-sequences. Our method consists of a new and more abstract approach, which shifts the focus from working on constructing suitable artinian level ...

Regularity of symbolic powers of edge ideals [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Pure and Applied Algebra, 2019
In this article, we prove that for several classes of graphs, the Castelnuovo-Mumford regularity of symbolic powers of their edge ideals coincide with that of their ordinary powers.

"IMMORTALITY OF MY SOUL...": THE GENESIS OF PUSHKIN'S POEM EXEGI MONUMENTUM (I HAVE ERECTED A MONUMENT TO MYSELF) [PDF]

open access: yesПроблемы исторической поэтики, 2013

Fighting the Philistines: Robert Schumann and the Davidsbündler

open access: yesMusical Offerings, 2021
Robert Schumann was an eccentric composer and musical critic who influenced the Romantic-era musical community through the formation of the Davidsbündler. This “league of David” was Schumann’s idea of a musical society which exemplified a distinctly pure

Almost complete intersection binomial edge ideals and their Rees algebras [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Pure and Applied Algebra, 2019
Let $G$ be a simple graph on $n$ vertices and $J_G$ denote the corresponding binomial edge ideal in the polynomial ring $S = K[x_1, \ldots, x_n, y_1, \ldots, y_n].$ In this article, we compute the second Betti number and obtain a minimal presentation of ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

The Patent and the Paper: a Few Thoughts on Late Modern Science and Intellectual Property

open access: yesCulture Unbound: Journal of Current Cultural Research, 2015
Marie and Pierre Curie's decision not to patent the discovery (1898) and later isolation (1902) of radium is perhaps the most famous of all disinterested decisions in the history of science.

N-pure ideals and mid rings

open access: yes, 2020
In this paper, we introduce the concept of N-pure ideal as a generalization of pure ideal. Using this concept, a new and interesting type of rings is presented, we call it mid ring. Also, we provide new characterizations for von Neumann regular and zero-dimensional rings. Moreover, some results about mp-ring are given.

Crucial parameters for precise copy number variation detection in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded solid cancer samples

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that copy number variations (CNVs) can be reliably detected in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded (FFPE) solid cancer samples using ultra‐low‐pass whole‐genome sequencing, provided that key (pre)‐analytical parameters are optimized.

Politics, history and republican institutions in the first Quattrocento: Florence by Leonardo Bruni

open access: yesRevista Maracanan, 2020
Leonardo Bruni (1370-1444), chancellor and historian, is the author of one of the main praises of the city of Florence of this period. In writing to Laudatio florentinae urbis (1403-1404), the humanist describes Florence and its government as a well ...
