Variational linearization of pure traction problems in incompressible elasticity [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
We consider pure traction problems and we show that incompressible linearized elasticity can be obtained as variational limit of incompressible finite elasticity under suitable conditions on external loads.

Asymptotic Behavior of Weak Solutions of Nonisothermal Flow of Herschel–Bulkley Fluid to Free Boundary

open access: yesDiscrete Dynamics in Nature and Society, 2022
In this manuscript, the behavior of a Herschel–Bulkley fluid has been discussed in a thin layer in ℝ3 associated with a nonlinear stationary, nonisothermal, and incompressible model.

Certain results on generalized (k,\mu)-contact manifolds

open access: yesBoletim da Sociedade Paranaense de Matemática, 2019
The object of the present paper is to study generalized (k,\mu)-contact manifolds. At first we consider \phi-semisymmetric generalized (k,\mu)-contact manifolds.

Pure Point spectrum for measure dynamical systems on locally compact Abelian groups [PDF]

open access: yesJournal de Math\'ematiques Pures et Appliqu\'ees Volume 92, Issue 4, October 2009, Pages 323-341, 2007
We show equivalence of pure point diffraction and pure point dynamical spectrum for measurable dynamical systems build from locally finite measures on locally compact Abelian groups. This generalizes all earlier results of this type. Our approach is based on a study of almost periodicity in a Hilbert space.

From Algebraic Geometry to Machine Learning [PDF]

open access: yesPure and Applied Mathematics Quarterly, volume 17, number 2, 605-617, 2021, 2021
David Mumford made groundbreaking contributions in many fields, including the pure mathematics of algebraic geometry and the applied mathematics of machine learning and artificial intelligence. His work in both fields influenced my career at several key moments.

One-loop Superstring Amplitude From Integrals on Pure Spinors Space [PDF]

open access: yesJHEP 0912:034,2009, 2009
In the Type II superstring the 4-point function for massless NS-NS bosons at one-loop is well known [1][14]. The overall constant factor in this amplitude is very important because it needs to satisfy the unitarity and S-duality conditions [14]. This coefficient has not been computed in the pure spinor formalism due to the difficulty to solve the ...

Composition-Differentiation Operators on Derivative Hardy Spaces

open access: yesJournal of Mathematics
We first explore conditions under which every weighted composition-differentiation operator on the Hardy space H1D is completely continuous. We then discuss necessary and sufficient conditions for these operators to be Hilbert–Schmidt on the derivative ...

Ricci almost solitons and gradient Ricci almost solitons in $(k,\mu)$-paracontact geometry

open access: yesBoletim da Sociedade Paranaense de Matemática, 2019
The purpose of this paper is to study Ricci almost soliton and gradient Ricci almost soliton in $(k,\mu)$-paracontact metric manifolds. We prove the non-existence of Ricci almost soliton in a $(k,\mu)$-paracontact metric manifold $M$ with $k-1$ and whose

Why I don't like "pure mathematics" [PDF]

open access: yesPi in the Sky 7 (2003), 30-31, 2003
An opiniated essay on what pure mathematics is and why the adjective "pure" in "pure mathematics" is not a good choice.
