Anode recirculation and purge strategies for PEM fuel cell operation with diluted hydrogen feed gas

Applied Energy, 2018
Commercial polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) fuel cell systems require pure hydrogen feed gas (ISO 14687-2), otherwise impurities and inert gases would accumulate.

Conjugate heat transfer measurements and predictions for the vane endwall of a high-pressure turbine with upstream purge flow

International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 2019
In this study, overall cooling effectiveness of a vane endwall for a high-pressure turbine of an aero-engine is investigated using combined experimental and numerical methods. In particular, the influence of purge flow upstream of the endwall is examined

Experimental study on the purge process of a proton exchange membrane fuel cell stack with a dead-end anode

Applied Thermal Engineering, 2018
A proton exchange membrane fuel cell stack with a dead-end anode was experimentally investigated in this study. Its purge process was discussed in detail. And different purge intervals and purge time were tested to find the best purge strategy to achieve

The Purged Colon

Radiology, 1954
In 1943, Heilbrun published an article on extensive changes in the colon, apparently as a result of excessive and prolonged use of irritant cathartics. To our knowledge, no other report on this subject has appeared in the literature. During the past two years we have seen 2 patients with changes in the colon very similar to those described by Heilbrun.

A pilot comparison of purging and non-purging bulimics

Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1985
This study compared (1) purging bulimics (those who terminate binging with self-induced vomiting and/or excessive use of laxatives), N = 26; (2) non-purging bulimics, N = 24; and (3) control subjects (in whom no eating problems were apparent), N = 24. These groups were examined empirically on several personality and demographic variables. Additionally,

Effects of Purge Flow Configuration on Sealing Effectiveness in a Rotor–Stator Cavity

Journal of Engineering For Gas Turbines and Power, 2017
Secondary air is bled from the compressor in a gas turbine engine to cool turbine components and seal the cavities between stages. Unsealed cavities can lead to hot gas ingestion, which can degrade critical components or, in extreme cases, can be ...

Man’s Purgative Passion

American Journal of Psychotherapy, 1985
Overconcern with bowel function has been prevalent throughout history. Overuse of laxatives is persisting for a certain segment of the population even today. This paper attempts to put this practice into perspective by presenting a review of mankind's treatment and mistreatment of the GI system from the ancient Egyptians to modern times.

Bone marrow purging

Immunology Today, 1987
Bone marrow transplantation (BMT) is undertaken in a heroic attempt to increase the cute rate in malignancy and to treat deadly metabollic disorders. After ablative therapy, patients are transfused with their own or with HLA matched or haploidentical bone marrow. The inoculum cells or mature T cells which cause graft versus host disease.
