A new method for fabrication of flexible vacuum purge jackets [PDF]

open access: yes, 1969
Polyurethane-coated synthetic fabric is fitted with a filament-glass mat exterior which gives it a high degree of springback ability.

Reduced complexity models for water management and anode purge scheduling in DEA operation of PEMFCs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In this work, the dynamic behavior of Fuel Cell operation under Dead-Ended Anode conditions is shown. A DEA can be fed with dry hydrogen, since water crossing through the membrane is sufficient to humidify the fuel.

Multifunctional Crushing and Piezoresistive Self‐Sensing in Conductive Epoxy/CNT‐Coated Polyetherimide TPMS Lattices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study reports lightweight polyetherimide triply periodic minimal surfaces lattices coated with carbon nanotube‐reinforced epoxy that combine mechanical robustness with self‐sensing. The conformal coating enhances stiffness, strength and energy absorption while enabling reliable strain monitoring.

Pressure Bifurcation Phenomenon on Supersonic Blowing Trailing Edges

open access: yes, 2018
Turbine blades operating in transonic-supersonic regime develop a complex shock wave system at the trailing edge, a phenomenon that leads to unfavorable pressure perturbations downstream and can interact with other turbine stages. Understanding the fluid

The impact of phase change materials assisted night purge ventilation on the indoor thermal conditions of office buildings in hot-arid climates

open access: yes, 2017
Night purge ventilation is an effective technique for passive cooling, which is typically used in office buildings with the aim of reducing the daytime temperature, and thereby reducing the cooling load of HVAC systems.

Surface Tension Measurement of Ti‐6Al‐4V by Falling Droplet Method in Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In this article, the temperature‐dependent surface tension of free falling, oscillating Ti‐6Al‐4V droplets is investigated in both argon and monosilane doped, oxygen‐free atmosphere. Droplet temperature and oscillation are captured with one single high‐speed camera, and the surface tension is calculated with Rayleigh's formula.

Satellite protection and drag reduction using a purging gas flow [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
We have used the DSMC method to determine contamination (impingement of atmospheric molecules) and the aerodynamic forces on a cold satellite when a protective “purge gas” is ejected from a sting protruding ahead of the satellite. Forward ejection of the

Additive Manufacturing of Continuous Fibre Reinforced Composites: Process, Characterisation, Modelling, and Sustainability

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additive manufacturing provides precise control over the placement of continuous fibres within polymer matrices, enabling customised mechanical performance in composite components. This article explores processing strategies, mechanical testing, and modelling approaches for additive manufactured continuous fibre‐reinforced composites.

Experimental validation of equilibria in fuel cells with dead-ended anodes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This paper investigates the nitrogen blanketing front during the dead-ended anode (DEA) operation of a PEM fuel cell. Surprisingly the dynamic evolution of nitrogen and water accumulation in the dead-ended anode (DEA) of a PEM fuel cell arrives to a ...

Parameter Variation in Planetary Ball Milling of Titanium Aluminide Powder in XHV‐Adequate Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates the effects of milling parameters, including rotational speed, milling duration, and ball‐to‐powder ratio, on TiAl particle size and morphology in an XHV‐equivalent atmosphere. The creation of oxide‐free surfaces enhances the mechanical properties of green bodies.
