Journal of Comparative Pathology, 1968Abstract A disease of young piglets is described which is characterised by multiple haemorrhages and death of a part or the whole of a litter. Serial haematological examinations indicated that the haemorrhages were correlated with a fall in the numbers of thrombocytes.

The Journal of Maternal-Fetal & Neonatal Medicine, 2012A 34-year old primipara was admitted to hospital with dichorionic-diamniotic twins in 26+3 weeks of gestation. In suspicion of HELLP-syndrome, caesarean section was performed at 27+4 weeks of gestation, because of platelet count was reduced to 44000/µl. A re-laparotomy had to be performed because of intra-abdominal bleedings.

Journal of the American Medical Association, 1955Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura is a rare disease. The concomitant occurrence of this entity with pregnancy is an unusual finding and furthermore carries a high mortality. Yet such cases are truly worth extensive study and indeed have led to a significant clarification of the pathogenesis of thrombocytopenic purpura.
