Impact of the introduction of commercial purse- seine operations on the traditional fisheries of the Karnataka coast in India [PDF]

open access: yes, 1980
It was during 1977 that large -scale operation of purse – seines started in India mostly along the Karnataka coast. No doubt this has substantially increased the marine fish landings , especially mackerel and sardines .

A Circuit of Mechanically Regulated Transcription Factors Balances Regenerative and Fibrotic Memory of Mesenchymal Stromal Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Producing MSCs on rigid culture substrates induces a scar‐making phenotype, jeapordizing therapeutic success. ‘Tissue‐soft’ surfaces prevent MSC fibrogenesis and preserve regenerative traits. An epigenetic network, driven by HOXA11 and SALL1, maintains ‘soft memory’ by keeping chromatin open in relaxed MSCs, promoting anti‐fibrotic programs.

Purse-seine fishery for oil sardine in the South Karnataka coast and its effects on The indigenous fishery [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
With the introduction of purse seines in the midseventies the catches of oil sardine steeply rose from 6,129 t in 1976-77 to 32,629 t in 1979-80. However, in the subsequent year the landings declined by 6,800 t and with increase in effort the catch ...

Multi‐Omics Profiling Reveals Immunomodulatory and Pro‐Regenerative Effects of a Graphene Oxide–Collagen Scaffold in Massive Rotator Cuff Tears

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A graphene oxide/collagen scaffold is developed for chronic massive rotator cuff tear repair. The scaffold improves compressive stability, supports reparative mesenchymal differentiation, and modulates the immune microenvironment. In chronic MRCT models, it reduces muscle degeneration, enhances tendon–bone regeneration, and improves functional recovery,

A Triple‐Nanoparticle System for Controlled Graphene Nanosheet Stacking: Enabling K/Na‐Ion Battery Anodes with Ultra‐Fast Charging Exceeding Petroleum Vehicle Refueling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Large‐ion (K, Na) battery systems mitigate uneven global lithium distribution, while their ability to attain recharge time shorter than refueling would remove the final barrier for secondary batteries to replace petroleum vehicles. However, their large‐ion chemistry makes ultra‐fast charging an even significant challenge.

Reconfigurable Inflatables Through Controlled Surface Crumpling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Inflatable structures offer remarkable versatility due to their compact storage and rapid deployment, making them ideal for lightweight, quickly assembled, and deployable applications. These structures are typically made from membranes that are nearly inextensible yet highly flexible.

Tailoring Successive Magnetic‐Dielectric Synergy for Enhancing Electromagnetic Absorption in Ultralong Heterostructure Chains Assisted by High Static Magnetic Field

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work proposes a high static magnetic field (HSMF) driven dual‐low‐dimension strategy for fabricating magnetic‐dielectric heterostructure (Fe3O4@MoS2) chains with programmable lengths. The constructed successive magnetic‐dielectric synergy, arising from uniaxial anisotropy‐enhanced magnetic response and abundant heterointerfaces that boost ...
