2004This document contains summary statistics of the NEI4 purse seiner fleet fishing in the Indian Ocean, as well as some information about how the data are collected. Marine Policy, 1992Abstract In 1983 the Canadian Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) implemented a 10-year fleet reduction plan in the Scotia-Fundy (4WX) herring purse seine fishery. The plan constituted an important departure from the traditional philosophy of fishery management in Atlantic Canada by introducing individual and transferable property rights to fish.
