Bullous Pemphigoid Induced by PUVA Therapy

An 80-year-old psoriatic patient developed a blistering eruption during oral PUVA therapy. The diagnosis of bullous pemphigoid (BP) was established by routine histopathology, which demonstrated subepidermal blistering, and direct immunofluorescence, which revealed linear deposits of IgG, IgM and C3 along the basement membrane zone.

Successful Treatment of Scleroderma with PUVA Therapy

AbstractPUVA therapy was carried out on four patients with scleroderma; three of them had cutaneous manifestations of progressive systemic sclerosis and one other exhibited generalized morphea. PUVA therapy was given with daily doses of 0.25 J/cm2 or 0.4 J/cm2 for 3–8 weeks, resulting in total doses between 3.5 J/cm2 and 9.6 J/cm2.

Die PUVA-Therapie ist relativ gering durch Kontraindikationen belastet. Dennoch ist die Kenntnis einiger weniger Punkte wichtig, da bei deren Nichtbeachtung eventuell schwere Zustandsbilder betrachtlichen Ausmases entstehen konnen (z. B. Eruption eines systemischen Lupus erythematodes).

The lymphocyte proliferation of 15 psoriatic patients was sutdied after stimulation with tuberculin, trichophytin, varidase, concanavalin A (Con A), and pokeweek mitogen (PMW) during the first and the eighth PUVA treatment, 2 h after oral intake of 8-methoxypsoralen (8-MOP), immediately after UVA-irradiation, and 24 h later.
