Plasmepsins as Antimalarial Drug Targets—Then, Now, and the Future

open access: yesMedicinal Research Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Malaria is a devastating disease caused by Plasmodium parasites. Plasmodium parasites express ten cathepsin D‐like aspartyl proteases, called plasmepsins (PMs). These PMs have diverse roles fulfill diverse functions throughout the parasite's lifecycle, though several exhibit functional redundancies. Among them, PMV, PMIV, and PMX are essential

Machine Learning Potential for Ga–In Alloy Melting

open access: yesMaterials Genome Engineering Advances, EarlyView.
Liquid metals are essential for flexible electronics and soft robotics, yet their melting behavior remains difficult to predict. This work benchmarks machine‐learning potentials and introduces a local Lindemann approach for melting‐temperature calculations in disordered alloys, enabling realistic large‐scale simulations and advancing liquid‐metal ...

Robust Performance Loss Rate Calculation for Photovoltaic Systems in High Latitude Locations

open access: yesProgress in Photovoltaics: Research and Applications, EarlyView.
This work studies the best methods for performance loss rate (PLR) calculation in high latitude locations, characterized by strong seasonal variability. As the different methods can drastically affect the PLR value, an ensemble method consisting of multiple approaches was validated to be essential in identifying robust PLRs.

Degradation of Crystalline Si‐Based Solar Modules With Varying Material Combinations—Part I: Encapsulant Degradation

open access: yesProgress in Photovoltaics: Research and Applications, EarlyView.
This work deals with the degradation of solar modules with varying material combinations under accelerated aging conditions. By in situ moisture measurements and simulations of oxygen ingress, the consumption of stabilizing additives and polymer degradation can be correlated spatially resolved with the penetrating stressors.
