Pectin/PVA and pectin-MgO/PVA films: Preparation, characterization and biodegradation studies

open access: yesHeliyon, 2023
There is a great demand to replace non-renewable materials with eco-friendly renewable materials for many applications in recent times. In the present study, such an attempt was made to substitute synthetic polymer-based films used for food packaging applications with films prepared out of renewable materials derived from waste.

Electrical Conductivities of Conductors, Semiconductors, and Their Mixtures at Elevated Temperatures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents a comprehensive review of temperature‐dependent electrical conductivity data for multiple material classes at elevated temperatures, highlighting a persistent conductivity gap between metals and semiconductors in the range of 102$\left(10\right)^{2}$– 107$\left(10\right)^{7}$ S/m. Metal–ceramic irregular metamaterials are proposed

Fabrication of Antibacterial Poly(vinyl alcohol) Microfibers Mat for Wound Dressing Application [PDF]

open access: yesعلوم و تکنولوژی پلیمر, 2016
The bed of an open wound is prone to infection because of good conditions for microorganisms to grow in a moist, warm and nutritious environment. Using an antibacterial wound dressing, the healing of the wound can be accelerated. Antibacterial properties

Preparation and characterization of PVA/PASA-PVA/PDDAB bipolar membrane [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Brazilian Chemical Society, 2009
Bipolar membranes (BMP) were prepared by bonding together separate anion and cation exchange membrane. For the preparation of the cation selective layer, aqueous solution of PVA [poly(vinyl alcohol)], and PASA [poly(anetholesulfonic acid sodium salt)], where the ratio of PVA/PASA was changed for the control of the membrane charge density, were cast for

3D‐Printed Porous Hydroxyapatite Formed via Enzymatic Mineralization

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bone combines lightness, strength, and the ability to heal, inspiring new materials design. This work introduces a room‐temperature, enzyme‐mediated 3D printing method to create porous hydroxyapatite scaffolds. The process avoids energy‐intensive sintering, preserves bioactivity, and allows control over porosity and mineralization.
