Sectionalized PWM (S-PWM): A new multilevel modulation strategy

2008 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2008
The paper presents a novel multilevel PWM strategy that employs a split section reference waveform with phase-shifted carriers to produce harmonically superior PWM signals. The multilevel PWM switching patterns provide a higher dynamic range than what has been reported in the literature.

Different PWM modulation techniques indexes performance evaluation

ISIE '93 - Budapest: IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics Conference Proceedings, 2002
Fully digital AC drives with pulse width modulated inverters are becoming an industrial standard. For PWM inverters several strategies are used. A complete view of the most common carrier based strategies, as sinusoidal PWM, third harmonic injected PWM, discontinuous or dead band PWM and space vector PWM is presented. The authors propose a method based

Improved modulation techniques for PWM-VSI drives

Proceedings of IECON '93 - 19th Annual Conference of IEEE Industrial Electronics, 1997
PWM-VSI based AC motor drives have two main problems. The inverter is nonlinear which causes instability problems in some specific working points of the AC machine and it emits acoustic noise due to the switching frequency. Nonlinearities like dead-time in the inverter, load dependent DC-link voltage ripple and the voltage drop across the switches are ...

Inductor commutation soft-switched PWM inverter driven by frequency-modulated PWM signal

IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 1998
This paper presents a novel technique using frequency modulation (FM) to improve the efficiency of an inductor commutation soft-switched pulse-width-modulation (PWM) inverter (ICSI). In the ICSI, a circulating current for soft switching always flows through the switches of the inverter, independent of the load and input signal.

Slope modulation strategy for generated PWM

2008 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics, 2008
A new PWM technique is introduced based on the slope of the signal modulator. The technique was simulated and tested in the laboratory and results show that it generates very high quality voltages with few commutations. It was compared to other recent PWM techniques and achieved higher quality waves and greater fundamental R.M.S.

Bandpass pulse-width modulation (BP-PWM)

IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium Digest, 2005., 2005
New transmitter architectures utilizing nonlinear power amplifiers when transmitting linearly modulated signals are studied. The emphasis is on bandpass pulse-width modulation (BP-PWM) for which both theory and implementation proposals are presented.

PWM sinusoidal inverter with modulation switching and carrier frequency modulation

1998 International Conference on Power Electronic Drives and Energy Systems for Industrial Growth, 1998. Proceedings., 2005
This paper discusses basic characteristics of the pulse width modulation (PWM) sinusoidal inverter achieved by means of modulation switching operations. The considered PWM is to repeat the operation of leading and trailing edge modulation at each peak of a reference sinusoidal signal.

Interleaved PWM with discontinuous space-vector modulation

IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 1999
This paper describes the effect of interleaved discontinuous space-vector modulation (SVM) in paralleled three-phase systems using three-phase pulsewidth modulation (PWM) rectifiers as an example. At the discontinuous point of the SVM, the phase shift between the switching signals of the paralleled modules generates a zero-sequence excitation to the ...

Improved delta modulation control for PWM inverters

2008 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology, 2008
An improved delta modulation (IDM) controller for pulse width modulation (PWM) inverter is presented in this paper. The proposed IDM use the input reference signal to generate the variable integrating slope for the integrator in order to obtain better control ability.

Harmonic analysis of PWM inverter modulation strategies

International Journal of Electronics, 1988
This paper presents the harmonic analysis of various pulse width modulation strategies used for the DC-AC converters. An efficient harmonics computation algorithm for piecewise continuous periodic waveforms has been derived. Fourier coefficients of experimentally obtained waveforms or simulation results can be calculated efficiently.
