Performance Analysis of Delta Modulated PWM Inverters

IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 1987
An analysis is presented of a voltage source delta modulation (DM) inverter. The delta modulation method provides several advantageous characteristics over commonly used sine modulation process. It is relatively easy to implement and provides low harmonics at the inverter output.

Development of a Modulation Strategy for a PWM Inverter Drive

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 1979
When induction motors are driven by electronic inverters, the applied voltage waveforms are quite nonsinusoidal. The fundamental component of the current is controlled by the load. The harmonic currents are limited principally by the motor leakage inductance and are independent of load. These harmonic currents can lead to increased motor heating and to

A New Microcomputer Controlled Modulator for PWM Inverters

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 1986
The design of a new microcomputer controlled modulator for a pulsewidth modulated (PWM) inverter supplying a three-phase induction machine is presented. The requirements for the control of variable speed drives in general are discussed. The specifications for the PWM modulator are set out and explained.

Practical real-time PWM modulators: an assessment

IEE Proceedings B Electric Power Applications, 1992
Many techniques have been proposed for generating PWM waveforms for controlling AC motor drives. The authors demonstrate the practicality of generating real-time, software-based PWM waveforms using low-cost microprocessors. They use a space vector methodology and extend the concept of a computationally efficient trapezoidal modulation strategy to more ...

Harmonic analysis of PWM inverter modulation strategies

International Journal of Electronics, 1988
This paper presents the harmonic analysis of various pulse width modulation strategies used for the DC-AC converters. An efficient harmonics computation algorithm for piecewise continuous periodic waveforms has been derived. Fourier coefficients of experimentally obtained waveforms or simulation results can be calculated efficiently.

Quick implementation of Pule Wise Modulation(PWM), Pulse Frequency Modulation(PFM) and mixed PWM/PFM on FPGA chip

2020 International Symposium on Computer, Consumer and Control (IS3C), 2020
This paper proposes a method to successfully embedded three control waveforms, PWM (Pulse Width Modulation), PFM (Pulse Frequency Modulation), and PWM-PFM (pulse width frequency modulation), into an FPGA (Field-Programmable Gate Array) chip. The three types of control modulation are generally used in power supply design.

Multilevel PWM methods at low modulation indices

IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 1999
When utilized at low amplitude modulation indices, existing multilevel carrier-based PWM strategies have no special provisions for this operating region, and several levels of the inverter go unused. This paper proposes some novel multilevel PWM strategies to take advantage of the multiple levels in both a diode-clamped inverter and a cascaded H ...
