Pseudoxanthoma Elasticum (PXE) and Joint Manifestations

Scandinavian Journal of Rheumatology, 1970
A case of PXE is reported which, besides cardiac and gastrointestinal symptoms, also shows recurrent joint manifestations, possibly due to the basic disease. Histologically, the joint lesions resembled subacute synovitis to some extent.

Homology Modeling and Virtual Screening of Proteins Related to PXE and PXE-like Diseases: Insights for Overlapping Metabolites

Current Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, 2020
Background:The molecular etiology of Pseudoxanthoma Elasticum (PXE), an autosomal recessive connective tissue disorder, has become increasingly complex as not only mutations in the ABCC6, but also in ENPP1 and GGCX, can cause resembling phenotypes. Methods:To get insights on the common pathway, the overlapping metabolites for these three proteins were ...

Labour analgesia and pseudoxanthoma elasticum (PXE)

International Journal of Obstetric Anesthesia, 2003
We present the first report of epidural analgesia in a parturient with pseudoxanthoma elasticum. This rare inherited disorder of elastic tissue is characterised by skin changes but also has multi-system manifestations. The consequences of pseudoxanthoma elasticum for the obstetric anaesthetist are reviewed.

ROENTGEN FINDINGS IN PSEUDOXANTHOMA ELASTICUM (PXE)

American Journal of Roentgenology, 1969
Pseudoxanthoma elasticum (PXE) is a systemic disorder characterized by xanthoma-like skin lesions, angioid streaks in the optic fundus, and gastrointestinal hemorrhage. This disorder is transmitted by an autosomal recessive gene and may represent a basic defect of calcium metabolism resulting in primary calcification of elastic tissue.

Pseudoxanthoma Elasticum (PXE)‐like Calcification in Adult Dermatomyositis

The Journal of Dermatology, 2002
AbstractA case of pseudoxanthoma elasticum (PXE)‐like calcification in adult dermatomyositis (DM) is described. The patient was a 38‐year‐old woman with a history of dermatomyositis for 3 months. Yellowish, hard, papulo‐plaque lesions, which looked like those of pseudoxanthoma elasticum, were noted on her left axilla.

The fracture behaviour of a PXE/HIPS polyblend

Polymer, 1982
Abstract As part of an overall examination of the fatigue crack propagation (FCP) behaviour of impact-modified polymers, a study of the fracture morphology of a PXE/HIPS polyblend polymer subjected to monotonic and cyclic loading conditions is reported.

Advocacy groups as research organizations: the PXE International example

Nature Reviews Genetics, 2007
Advocacy organizations for genetic diseases are increasingly becoming involved in biomedical research, particularly translational research, in order to meet the needs of the individuals that they serve. PXE International, an advocacy organization for the disease pseudoxanthoma elasticum, provides an example of how research can be accelerated by these ...

Pseudoxanthoma Elasticum (PXE), A Case Report

2014
A 69-years-old man with hypertention since 15 years who had suffered visual loss was examined in Ophthalmology Department of Pamukkale University. On physical examination, angioid streaks in both eyes and 8-10 yellowish papules on both cruris anterior and on the left popliteal fossa were seen.
