Wall-crossing, free fermions and crystal melting [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We describe wall-crossing for local, toric Calabi-Yau manifolds without compact four-cycles, in terms of free fermions, vertex operators, and crystal melting. Firstly, to each such manifold we associate two states in the free fermion Hilbert space.

Study of Virtual Reality Immersive Technology Enhanced Mathematics Geometry Learning

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2022
Mathematics is an important foundation for the development of science education. In the past, when instructors taught mathematical concepts of geometry shapes, they usually used traditional textbooks and aids to conduct teaching activities, which ...

Di-μ-chlorido-bis{[N,N′-dicyclohexyl-N′′,N′′-bis(trimethylsilyl)guanidinato-κ2N,N′](tetrahydrofuran-κO)magnesium(II)}

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2011
The dinuclear title complex, [Mg2(C19H40N3Si2)2Cl2(C4H8O)2], lies on a center of inversion. The Mg2+ ions are bonded to a chelating N,N′-bonded guanidinate anion, a tetrahydrofuran molecule and two bridging chloride anions.

Serendipity and Tensor Product Affine Pyramid Finite Elements [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Using the language of finite element exterior calculus, we define two families of $H^1$-conforming finite element spaces over pyramids with a parallelogram base.

(μ-1,2-Di-4-pyridylethylene-κ2N:N′)bis[bis(N,N-dimethyldithiocarbamato-κ2S,S′)zinc(II)]

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2009
The dinuclear title compound, [Zn2(C3H6NS2)4(C12H10N2)], features two five-coordinate Zn atoms, one with an NS4 coordination geometry distorted towards a trigonal-bipyramidal arrangement, and the other distorted towards a square pyramid.

Fundamental Physics and the Fine-Structure Constant [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
From the exponential function of Euler’s equation to the geometry of a fundamental form, a calculation of the fine-structure constant and its relationship to the proton-electron mass ratio is given.

(μ-trans-1,2-Di-4-pyridylethylene-κ2N:N′)bis[bis(N,N-diisopropyldithiocarbamato-κ2S,S′)zinc(II)]

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2009
The dinuclear title compound, [Zn2(C7H14NS2)4(C12H10N2)], is centrosymmetric about the central C=C bond. The five-coordinate Zn atom is bonded to two asymmetrically chelating dithiocarbamate ligands and a pyridine N atom to define an NS4 coordination ...

Inverted pyramid Azores - an eternal hybrid structure

open access: yesStructural Mechanics of Engineering Constructions and Buildings, 2021
Engineering structures are designed with observation of rules for structural performance under specific design loads, defined in the so-called structural codes. While dead loads are directly dependent from the selection of structural materials to a given

Teaching in the Montessori Classroom: Investigating Variation Theory and Embodiment as a Foundation of Teachers’ Development [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The theory of Montessori education has been interpreted by some researchers to be vaguely formulated. However, as shown in previous research, Maria Montessori’s didactic approach to teaching and learning mathematics is fully consistent with variation ...

Laser cooling with a single laser beam and a planar diffractor

open access: yes, 2010
A planar triplet of diffraction gratings is used to transform a single laser beam into a four-beam tetrahedral magneto-optical trap. This `flat' pyramid diffractor geometry is ideal for future microfabrication.
