Species composition of blow flies (Diptera: Calliphoridae) colonizing pig carcasses exposed to bifenthrin‐ and clothianidin‐containing products

open access: yesMedical and Veterinary Entomology, Volume 40, Issue 3, Page 574-581, September 2026.
High clothianidin concentrations prevented colonization, while bifenthrin showed a non‐significant trend of reduced fly abundance, indicating both insecticides may suppress blow fly activity on treated carcasses. Adult emergence rates were unaffected, with no statistically significant differences observed across insecticide treatments, suggesting ...

Ingestion of attractive toxic sugar baits containing ivermectin before and after blood feeding affects the biology and reproduction of Aedes aegypti (Diptera: Culicidae)

open access: yesMedical and Veterinary Entomology, Volume 40, Issue 3, Page 551-559, September 2026.
Attractive toxic sugar bait containing ivermectin (ATSB‐IVM) ingestion markedly reduced blood feeding, survival, oviposition, egg production and larval hatching, with the strongest effects when baits were ingested before blood feeding. Timing of ingestion (48–96 h before or after blood feeding) shaped sublethal impacts across the first and second ...

Cellular immune response of Amblyomma sculptum and Amblyomma americanum to entomopathogenic fungi: Implications for biological tick control

open access: yesMedical and Veterinary Entomology, Volume 40, Issue 3, Page 582-594, September 2026.
Amblyomma sculptum showed a plasmatocyte‐dominant haemocyte profile. Beauveria bassiana increased plasmatocytes and reduced granulocytes, whereas Metarhizium robertsii did not cause significant changes. Amblyomma americanum showed a granulocyte‐dominant haemocyte profile. Beauveria bassiana reduced total haemocytes and granulocytes. B.

Valorization of Ficus carica Pruning Residues as Selective Botanical Insecticides: Optimized Furanocoumarin Extraction, Efficacy Against Neotropical Stink Bugs, and Mechanistic Insights via Molecular Docking

open access: yesArchives of Insect Biochemistry and Physiology, Volume 122, Issue 4, August 2026.
Optimized extracts from Ficus carica pruning waste exhibit strong biological activity against major stink bug pests. Complementary in silico analyses suggest this efficacy relies on pest‐specific acetylcholinesterase inhibition, predicting a promising, pollinator‐safe alternative for sustainable agriculture.

Optimizing the Anti‐Inflammatory Efficacy of Pakistani Spice Blends: A Farm‐to‐Fork Analysis of Phytochemical Synergy and Processing Stability

open access: yeseFood, Volume 7, Issue 4, August 2026.
This review aims to evaluate the anti‐inflammatory potential of these spice blends, emphasizing their synergistic mechanisms, and to investigate how cultivation practices, post‐harvest processing, and environmental stressors shape their medicinal efficacy. By addressing this gap, it seeks to provide a comprehensive framework for integrating traditional

Gender Differences in Knowledge, Perceptions, and Practices Related to Pesticide Use Among Vegetable Farmers in the Hills of Nepal: A Mixed‐Methods Study

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Overuse and misuse of chemical pesticides remain a major threat to public health in agricultural communities of the least developed and low‐income countries. Gender‐based differences in agricultural settings, access to agricultural information, and decision‐making play a crucial role in influencing farmers' knowledge ...

Chitosan‐protected dsRNA increases efficacy against Helicoverpa armigera without compromising biosafety for pollinators

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 8, Page 7746-7757, August 2026.
Chitosan/tripolyphosphate/double‐stranded RNA (dsRNA) nanoparticles enhance RNA interference efficacy of orally delivered dsRNA against Helicoverpa armigera. Nanoparticles reduce the LC50 and do not cause deleterious effects or toxicity on beneficial insects.

Toxicity of Four Common Environmental Chemicals Across Caenorhabditis elegans Life Stages Supporting the One Health Concept

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, Volume 41, Issue 8, Page 507-522, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Pesticides and pharmaceuticals are among the most common chemical groups in waterbodies and soils, and their universal distribution raises concerns about potential adverse effects on nontarget organisms and humans. Reproductive output disruption is of particular concern, as it transposes effects from the individual to the next generations at ...

Optimisation of Drop‐Sheet Sampling in Macadamia (Macadamia integrifolia) Orchards: An Optimised Method for Monitoring Insect Ecology

open access: yesAustral Entomology, Volume 65, Issue 3, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Understanding orchard arthropod populations is a critical element of making strategic decisions regarding pest management. Therefore, it is paramount for farmers and crop consultants to use appropriate survey methods that provide a representative sample of orchard insect ecology. Currently, macadamia (Macadamia integrifolia) industry arthropod

Non‐Target Effects of Some Common Agrochemicals on Various Life Stages and Parasitism Behaviour of Trichogrammatoidea cryptophlebiae Nagaraja, 1979 (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatidae)

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, Volume 174, Issue 8, Page 942-956, August 2026.
This study assessed the non‐target effects of commonly used agrochemicals on the egg parasitoid Trichogrammatoidea cryptophlebiae, an important biological control agent in South African orchards. Agrochemical impacts varied across life stages, with several insecticides allowing adult survival but significantly reducing parasitism and developmental ...
