Synthesis and Stereostructure-Activity Relationship of Novel Pyrethroids Possessing two Asymmetric Centers on a Cyclopropane Ring

open access: yesMolecules, 2019
2-Methylcyclopropane pyrethroid insecticides bearing chiral cyanohydrin esters or chiral ethers and two asymmetric centers on the cyclopropane ring, were synthesized.

Impact of Environmental Exposure on Infant Sleep : The Exposome Approach

open access: yesJournal of Sleep Research, EarlyView.
This review explores how exposure to environmental pollutants during the first 1000 days of life may affect infant sleep. Evidence suggests potential links between chemical exposures and sleep disturbances, underscoring the need for more research on early‐life vulnerability and the impact of pollutants in air, diet, and breast milk.

Crecimiento y tolerancia de Trichoderma asperelloides TF5 en medio papa dextrosa agar (PDA) a distintas concentraciones de cipermetrina

open access: yesRevista Investigaciones y Estudios de la UNA
The continuous and excessive use of pyrethroid insecticides has generated numerous environmental and public health problems, making their removal from the environment a topic of interest.

Eficiência de alfacipermetrina e cipermetrina no controle de triatomíneos em Camalaú, no sul da Paraíba (Hemiptera: Reduviidae) Efficiency of alphacyspermethrin and cypermethrin in the control of triatomine bugs in Camalaú, south of Paraíba (Hemiptera: Reduviidae)

open access: yesMemorias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz, 1989
We sprayed, in three groups of Domiciliary Units, 10 and 15 g of alphacypermethrin and 31.3 g of cypermethrin per pump of 10 liters, equivaling, if applied on 250 [squared meters), respectiveliy, to 60 and 40 mg of a alphacypermethrin [per squared meter]

Preimaginal development of Aedes aegypti L. (Diptera: Culicidae) in brackish water gives rise to adult mosquitoes with thicker cuticles and greater insecticide resistance

open access: yesMedical and Veterinary Entomology, EarlyView.
The principal arboviral vector Aedes aegypti can develop in coastal brackish water field habitats (0.5–15 g/L salt) with larvae possessing thicker cuticles and greater resistance to the larvicide Temephos. Females emerging from brackish water‐developing preimaginal stages are now shown to have thicker and remodelled leg and abdominal cuticles and ...

The impact of pyrethroid-pyriproxyfen and pyrethroid-chlorfenapyr long-lasting insecticidal nets on density of primary malaria vectors Anopheles gambiae s.s. and Anopheles coluzzii in Benin: a secondary analysis of a cluster randomised controlled trial

open access: yesParasites & Vectors
Background Long-lasting insecticidal nets (LLINs) may have different impacts on distinct mosquito vector species. We assessed the efficacy of pyrethroid-pyriproxyfen and pyrethroid-chlorfenapyr LLINs on the density of Anopheles gambiae s.s.

Behavioural and insecticidal effects of organophosphate-, carbamate- and pyrethroid-treated mosquito nets against African malaria vectors.

open access: yes, 2009
Three insecticides - the pyrethroid deltamethrin, the carbamate carbosulfan and the organophosphate chlorpyrifos-methyl - were tested on mosquito nets in experimental huts to determine their potential for introduction as malaria control measures.

Voltage-gated sodium channels as targets for pyrethroid insecticides

open access: yesEuropean Biophysics Journal, 2017
The pyrethroid insecticides are a very successful group of compounds that have been used extensively for the control of arthropod pests of agricultural crops and vectors of animal and human disease.

Full‐length coding sequence analysis of the voltage‐gated sodium channel and acetylcholinesterase genes reveals target‐site mutations and acetylcholinesterase gene duplication in housefly (Musca domestica) populations in Japanese livestock barns

open access: yesMedical and Veterinary Entomology, EarlyView.
We simultaneously analysed insecticide resistance mutations in VGSC and AChE using NGS and hybridization probe capture in houseflies collected from livestock facilities for the first time. Resistance mutations in both VGSC and AChE were detected in most wild populations, suggesting widespread distribution of resistance genes.

Contributions of cuticle permeability and enzyme detoxification to pyrethroid resistance in the major malaria vector Anopheles gambiae

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
To tackle the problem of insecticide resistance, all resistance mechanisms need to be studied. This study investigated the involvement of the cuticle in pyrethroid resistance in a strain of Anopheles gambiae, MRS, free of kdr mutations.
