The activity of the pyrrole insecticide chlorfenapyr in mosquito bioassay: towards a more rational testing and screening of non-neurotoxic insecticides for malaria vector control. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
BACKGROUND: The rapid selection of pyrethroid resistance throughout sub-Saharan Africa is a serious threat to malaria vector control. Chlorfenapyr is a pyrrole insecticide which shows no cross resistance to insecticide classes normally used for vector ...

Inheritance of Pyrethroid Resistance in the German Cockroach

open access: yesJournal of Pesticide Science, 1994

Innovation in pest management: can the past inform the future?

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Progress in pest management occurred incrementally, but occasionally, transformative discoveries introduced disruptive technologies. Looking ahead, generative artificial intelligence is expected to accelerate agricultural discovery by integrating vast datasets from mechanization, genetics, and chemistry.

Quantification of permethrin resistance and kdr alleles in Florida strains of Aedes aegypti (L.) and Aedes albopictus (Skuse).

open access: yesPLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases, 2018
Recent outbreaks of locally transmitted dengue and Zika viruses in Florida have placed more emphasis on integrated vector management plans for Aedes aegypti (L.) and Aedes albopictus Skuse.

Micro-encapsulated pirimiphos-methyl shows high insecticidal efficacy and long residual activity against pyrethroid-resistant malaria vectors in central Côte d'Ivoire [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The wide-scale implementation of insecticide-treated nets and indoor residual spraying (IRS) has contributed to a considerable decrease of malaria morbidity and mortality in sub-Saharan Africa over the last decade.

The first RNAi‐based biopesticide approved in the United States: regulatory implications for the European Union – the case of Ledprona (Calantha™)

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
The approval of the RNA interference‐based biopesticide Ledprona (Calantha™) in the USA marks a milestone for RNA‐based crop protection. We discuss the regulatory implications for the European Union, highlighting opportunities, challenges, and the need for adapted risk assessment frameworks for RNA‐based plant protection products.

Methomyl resistance in Dalbulus maidis (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae): selection, inheritance and multiple‐resistance

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
The inheritance of methomyl resistance in Dalbulus maidis is autosomal, incompletely dominant and polygenic. No cross‐resistance was found between methomyl and chlorfenapyr, cyantraniliprole and isocycloseram. Abstract BACKGROUND Acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitor insecticides have been important tools for the management of Dalbulus maidis in Brazil;

Susceptibility Status of Malaria Vectors to Insecticides Commonly used for Malaria Control in Tanzania. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The aim of the study was to monitor the insecticide susceptibility status of malaria vectors in 12 sentinel districts of Tanzania. WHO standard methods were used to detect knock-down and mortality in the wild female Anopheles mosquitoes collected in ...
