An integrated computational/experimental workflow was used to identify new candidate molecules for Aedes aegypti control. Docking of 1,070 chalcones against mJHBP, followed by in vivo assays, identified 4′‐chloro‐4‐methoxychalcone (2c) as the most active larvicide candidate.

Zika virus (ZIKV) is an emerging mosquito-borne pathogen that can cause global public health threats. In the absence of effective antiviral medications, prevention measures rely largely on reducing the number of adult mosquito vectors by targeting ...

ABSTRACT The heavy reliance on pyrethroid‐based interventions has largely driven insecticide resistance in malaria vectors, accelerating the spread of resistant strains, including resistant Anopheles funestus strains. The efficacy of insecticide‐based interventions, especially insecticide‐treated nets (ITNs), the cornerstone of malaria control and ...

Pyriproxyfen is metabolized by P450s associated with pyrethroid resistance in An. gambiae
Pyrethroid resistance is widespread in the malaria vector Anopheles gambiae leading to concerns about the future efficacy of bednets with pyrethroids as the sole active ingredient. The incorporation of pyriproxyfen (PPF), a juvenile hormone analogue, into pyrethroid treated bednets is being trialed in Africa.

On-farm evaluation of integrated pest management of thrips and whiteflies in herb cuttings in Ethiopia : report to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development [PDF]
Integrated Pest Management reduces the use of chemicals and therewith the impact of greenhouse horticulture on the environment. It improves working conditions and enables access of Ethiopian products on the world market.

Determining the efficacy of guppies and pyriproxyfen (Sumilarv® 2MR) combined with community engagement on dengue vectors in Cambodia: study protocol for a randomized controlled trial. [PDF]
BACKGROUND: Evidence on the effectiveness of low-cost, sustainable, biological vector-control tools for the Aedes mosquitoes is limited. Therefore, the purpose of this trial is to estimate the impact of guppy fish (guppies), in combination with the use ...

Context Organophosphates and chitin synthesis inhibitor pesticides pose a significant indirect threat to fish populations, necessitating effective remedial measures. Objective Supplementation with vitamin C (Vit C) in fish feed as a counteracting strategy to mitigate pesticides effect was explored in silver carp (Hypophthalmichthys molitrix ...

Indirect transfer of pyriproxyfen to European honeybees via an autodissemination approach
The frequency of arboviral disease epidemics is increasing and vector control remains the primary mechanism to limit arboviral transmission. Container inhabiting mosquitoes such as Aedes albopictus and Aedes aegypti are the primary vectors of dengue, chikungunya, and Zika viruses.
