Assessing the volcanic hazard for Rome. 40Ar/39Ar and In-SAR constraints on the most recent eruptive activity and present-day uplift at Colli Albani Volcanic District [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We present new 40Ar/39Ar data which allow us to refine the recurrence time for the most recent eruptive activity occurred at Colli Albani Volcanic District (CAVD) and constrain its geographic area.

Geological and Morphometric Characteristics of Quaternary Pyroclastic Aquifers in Salak and Pangrango Stratovolcano.

open access: yesJGEET: Journal of Geoscience, Engineering, Environment and Technology, 2023
Indonesia is located in a subduction zone formed by the collision of continental and oceanic plates. Many volcanoes form as a result of these conditions along the arc. Springs on the volcano's slopes are widely used for domestic, irrigation, and industry

Interpretation of Subsurface Structure Based on Magnetic Anomaly Analysis as Geothermal Manifestation in Lake Linting Deli Serdang

open access: yesJurnal Fisika Flux
- Research has been carried out with the aim of determining the type of subsurface lithology of the geothermal area in Lake Linting Deli Serdang, to determine the geological structure, as well as the type of rock that functions as a reservoir for ...

Numerical and experimental study on P‐wave propagation across a rock joint with different orientations

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
Joint orientation significantly affects P‐wave velocity, with the highest velocity at zero‐degree angles, decreasing to 30° as the angle increases. The velocity increases slightly from 30 to 45 degrees but sharply decreases from 45 to 90 degrees. Abstract Determination of the required parameters in different science contexts using the ultrasonic wave ...

Holocene record of large explosive eruptions from Chaitén and Michinmahuida Volcanoes, Chile

open access: yesAndean Geology, 2013
Tephra fall deposits and one large ignimbrite close to Chaitén and Michinmahuida Volcanoes were analyzed for chemistry and radiocarbon dated to correlate the eruptive units and establish the timing of eruptions.

Raman Spectroscopic Analysis and In Situ Heating Experiments on Adranosite Minerals

open access: yesJournal of Raman Spectroscopy, EarlyView.
This study provides the first detailed Raman spectroscopic characterization of rare ammonium sulfates adranosite, iron‐rich adranosite, and adranosite‐(Fe) from volcanic and coal‐fire environments. Distinct spectral features reveal compositional differences and structural effects of Fe substitution.

"Hot and sticky" and "cold and damp" pyroclastic eruptions, and their relationship with topography: valley- and lake-filling ignimbrites, Ardnamurchan, NW Scotland

open access: yesVolcanica
Pyroclastic density currents are complex mixtures of rock, ash and gas and represent significant hazards at many active volcanoes worldwide. Ignimbrites are the deposits of pyroclastic density currents and can be used to record the eruption dynamics and ...

Exploring Electrical Resistivity Tomography (ERT) to Detect Soil Pipes: Theoretical Modeling and Field Experiments

open access: yesLand Degradation &Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Soil erosion research remains critical for sustainable development as it impacts soil health through different erosive processes. Recent studies on soil piping highlight advancements in detecting surface features (using UAV); however, detecting underground pipes still remains challenging.

Modelling of bubble nucleation in trachy-phonolitic magmas: implications for the dynamics of ash-rich eruptions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Nucleation of water gas bubbles in trachyphonolitic magmatic melts has been investigated integrating theory and numerical modelling with decompression experiments and analysis of natural ash samples of explosive eruptions.
