Modeling the Deformation Response to Mt. Etna Sliding Flank
Abstract The southeastern flank of Mt. Etna volcano slides into the Ionian Sea at rates of centimeters per year. While gravitational spreading and tectonic forces can cause volcanic flank collapse, their effects intrinsically trade off with magmatic forcing. There is still strong uncertainty regarding the processes underlying the sliding.

Physical Modeling of Subaerial Granular Landslide‐Induced Tsunami Waves
Abstract Investigating tsunamigenic landslides via physical experiments is important to increase the understanding of these often devastating events for improving disaster prevention. Landslide masses often consist of granular material, which usually is characterized by non‐uniform grain size distributions, irregular shape and pronounced surface ...

Sedimentological and stratigraphic evolution of the southern part of the Barberton greenstone belt: A case of changing provenance and stability [PDF]
The sedimentological and stratigraphic evolution of the 3.5 to 3.3 Ga Barberton Greenstone Belt can be divided into three principal stages: (1) the volcanic platform stage during which at least 8 km of mafic and ultramafic volcanic rocks, minor felsic ...

Detrital zircon unmixing identifies three sediment sources for the Oligocene–Miocene Nyalau Formation, including a previously unrecognised syn‐depositional component characterised by Oligocene–Miocene volcanic zircons and Neoproterozoic populations absent from established sources.

Abstract Reconstructing oroclinal orogens along the Fuegian Andes‐northern Antarctic Peninsula provides critical constraints on the pre‐opening tectonic evolution of the Drake Passage, although such efforts are limited by a lack of reliable Cretaceous paleomagnetic and geochronological data.

Research in volcanic geology, petrology and planetary science at MIT, 1969 to 1974 [PDF]
The behavior of volcanoes was studied by geologic mapping, petrologic investigations of lava and xenoliths, physical measurements, and theoretical modelling. Field observations were conducted in Alaska (Nunivak Island), Iceland, Hawaii (Mauna Kea), Italy
