Using thousands of research‐grade iNaturalist images including more than 3000 observations of nymphal groups and 1000 of mating adults spanning 18 years, we find distinct regional patterns in the direction and magnitude of milkweed bug phenological responses to climate and daylength.

Viral discovery and diversity in trypanosomatid protozoa with a focus on relatives of the human parasite Leishmania. [PDF]
Knowledge of viral diversity is expanding greatly, but many lineages remain underexplored. We surveyed RNA viruses in 52 cultured monoxenous relatives of the human parasite Leishmania ( Crithidia and ...

ABSTRACT Acoustic and substrate‐borne vibrations are among the most widely used signalling modalities in animals. Arthropods display a staggering diversity of vibroacoustic organs generating acoustic sound and/or substrate‐borne vibrations, and are fundamental to our broader understanding of the evolution of animal signalling.

Bioanalogues oj juvenile hormones and intestines mycoflora of some insects
The subject of this paper is the influence of JH bioanalogues on the mycoflora of intestines of three species of inscets: Dysdereus cinaulams, Pyrrhocoris apterus and Tenebrio molitor. The results are presented in tables.

Sex roles and sex ratios in animals
ABSTRACT In species with separate sexes, females and males often differ in their morphology, physiology and behaviour. Such sex‐specific traits are functionally linked to variation in reproductive competition, mate choice and parental care, which have all been linked to sex roles.

Analysis by RNA-seq of transcriptomic changes elicited by heat shock in Leishmania major [PDF]
Besides their medical relevance, Leishmania is an adequate model for studying post-transcriptional mechanisms of gene expression. In this microorganism, mRNA degradation/stabilization mechanisms together with translational control and post-translational ...

Individual behaviour in firebugs (Pyrrhocoris apterus) [PDF]
The concept of animal personalities has recently become of major interest as researchers began to wonder why animals within a given population show consistent behaviour across situations and contexts, what led to the evolution of such behavioural inflexibility and what mechanisms might underlie the phenomenon.

Leptomonas pyrrhocoris: Genomic insight into Parasite's Physiology [PDF]
Leptomonas pyrrhocoris is a parasite of the firebug Pyrrhocoris apterus. This flagellate has been recently proposed as a model species for studying different aspects of the biology of monoxenous trypanosomatids, including host - parasite interactions. During its life cycle L. pyrrhocoris never tightly attaches to the epithelium of the insect gut.
