Prolyl Isomerase Pin1 Regulates the Stability of Hepatitis B Virus Core Protein

open access: yesFrontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology, 2020
The dynamic interplay between virus and host proteins is critical for establishing efficient viral replication and virus-induced pathogenesis. Phosphorylation-dependent prolyl isomerization by Pin1 provides a unique mechanism of molecular switching to ...

Proteomic study of the membrane components of signalling cascades of Botrytis cinerea controlled by phosphorylation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Protein phosphorylation and membrane proteins play an important role in the infection of plants by phytopathogenic fungi, given their involvement in signal transduction cascades.

Development of actionable targets of multi-kinase inhibitors (AToMI) screening platform to dissect kinase targets of staurosporines in glioblastoma cells

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
Therapeutic resistance to kinase inhibitors constitutes a major unresolved clinical challenge in cancer and especially in glioblastoma. Multi-kinase inhibitors may be used for simultaneous targeting of multiple target kinases and thereby potentially ...

Neurological, Psychiatric, and Biochemical Aspects of Thiamine Deficiency in Children and Adults. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Thiamine (vitamin B1) is an essential nutrient that serves as a cofactor for a number of enzymes, mostly with mitochondrial localization. Some thiamine-dependent enzymes are involved in energy metabolism and biosynthesis of nucleic acids whereas others ...

The metabolic advantage of tumor cells

open access: yesMolecular Cancer, 2011
1- Oncogenes express proteins of "Tyrosine kinase receptor pathways", a receptor family including insulin or IGF-Growth Hormone receptors. Other oncogenes alter the PP2A phosphatase brake over these kinases.

Purification and Characterization of Pyruvate‐Dehydrogenase Phosphatase from Pig‐Heart Muscle [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Biochemistry, 1972
Pyruvate‐dehydrogenase phosphatase was extensively purified from pig heart muscle. The molecular weight was determined to be in the range between 92000 and 95000. By dodecylsulfate‐gel electrophoresis there was no indication for a subunit structure of the protein. The phosphatase is dependent on Mg2+ or Mn2+.

Post-translational deregulation of YAP1 is genetically controlled in rat liver cancer and determines the fate and stem-like behavior of the human disease [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Previous studies showed that YAP1 is over-expressed in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Here we observed higher expression of Yap1/Ctgf axis in dysplastic nodules and HCC chemically-induced in F344 rats, genetically susceptible to hepatocarcinogenesis ...

Ptc6 is required for proper rapamycin-induced down-regulation of the genes coding for ribosomal and rRNA processing proteins in S. cerevisiae. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Ptc6 is one of the seven components (Ptc1-Ptc7) of the protein phosphatase 2C family in the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. In contrast to other type 2C phosphatases, the cellular role of this isoform is poorly understood. We present here a comprehensive
