Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Revealing the Evolution from Q-Switching to Mode-Locking in an Erbium-Doped Fiber Laser Using Tungsten Trioxide Saturable Absorber

open access: yesPhotonics, 2022
Passively Q-switching and mode-locking technologies can generate short pulses with durations that differ by several orders of magnitude widely used in different applications.

Q-switched ruby laser alloying of Ohmic contacts on gallium arsenide epilayers [PDF]

open access: yes, 1978
Ohmic contacts of AuGe have been produced on GaAs epilayers by laser alloying. The contacts possess morphological and electrical properties which are superior to those formed by conventional ...

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Nanosecond Hybrid Q-Switched Er-Doped Fiber Laser With WS2 Saturable Absorber

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2016
We demonstrate a stable hybrid Q-switched Er-doped fiber (EDF) laser with WS2 as the saturable absorber (SA). The SA device is obtained by depositing WS2 on a tapered fiber using the pulsed laser deposition method.

Fast recharge circuit for q-switched lasers [PDF]

open access: yes, 1973
Cavity-dumped lasers employ electrooptic-effect cell to alternately block and release laser pulse. Cell requires high-speed switching circuit that can apply and remove high voltage.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Q-switched, cavity-dumped, mode-locked laser [PDF]

open access: yes, 1973
Continuous-wave laser can achieve higher rate of emission through Q-switching. Technique keeps Q, energy storage rating, of laser cavity at low value while ion population inversion is being built up.

Nonlinear beam self-cleaning in a coupled cavity composite laser based on multimode fiber [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We study a coupled cavity laser configuration where a passively Q-switched Nd:YAG microchip laser is combined with an extended cavity, including a doped multimode fiber.

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.
