Q-switched 1329 nm Nd:CNGG laser
Applied Optics, 2015We demonstrate a laser-diode-pumped Q-switched 1329 nm neodymium-doped calcium-niobium-gallium-garnet (Nd:CNGG) laser using a V:YAG crystal as a saturable absorber. An average output power of 353 mW and a repetition rate of 13.43 kHz for Q-switched pulses were obtained. The pulse width was from 124 to 151.4 ns under different pump powers.

Self-Q-switched Nd:YVO_4 microchip lasers
Optics Letters, 1998We have observed giant pulses from cw pumped, monolithic Nd:YVO(4) microchip lasers, several hundred times the cw level, with pulse lengths less than 2 ns, which cannot be accounted for by conventional gain switching. These pulses occur as the second longitudinal mode starts to oscillate and can be described by the inclusion of gain-related effects in ...

Electrooptically Q-switched CO_2 waveguide laser
Applied Optics, 1979A flowing-gas CO(2) waveguide laser whose cw output is 13 W has been electrooptically Q-switched repetitively at rates up to 108 kHz and, with a 20% duty cycle, up to 345 kHz. To extract power efficiently in the Q-switched mode, it is necessary to operate the laser at far higher pulse repetition frequencies than for low-pressure lasers.

Abstract In this paper, the self-Q-switched Nd:GGG laser at 1061 nm was demonstrated. The self-Q-switched pulses were obtained by adjusting the output coupler. Under pump power of 2.1 W, the output power of 89.5 mW and pulse energy of 1.83 μJ was obtained with 1.5% output coupler, the corresponding pulse width was 4.8 μs with a repetition rate of 48 ...

One of the most attractive features of fibre lasers is their ability to produce significant pulse powers when Q-switched. Potential applications for such lasers include non-linear switching, OTDR measurements, materials processing and range-finding. We have, already demonstrated 100W:15ns pulses from a diode pumped Nd3+ fibre-laser and have obtained ...

Q-switching of semiconductor lasers
IEEE Journal of Quantum Electronics, 1977A scheme for Q -switching semiconductor lasers is proposed and analyzed. The method is based upon electrooptic switching of the Bragg reflectivity of the grating reflectors forming the cavity of the semiconductor laser. The basic configuration, the operating principles, and the dynamic behavior of these lasers are described.

Q-switched semiconductor diode lasers
IEEE Journal of Quantum Electronics, 1983Diode lasers with an intracavity electroabsorption modulator have been operated with full on/off modulation at rates of 3 GHz. In addition, modulation of the lasers has been shown up to a detector-limited frequency of 6 GHz. A new model of these devices, which includes amplified spontaneous emission and high gain is developed in this paper.

Controllable Passively Q-Switched Laser
Chinese Physics Letters, 2004We present a novel kind of pulsed laser named controllable passively Q-switched laser (CPQL). A CPQL of Nd:YVO4 with Cr:YAG as saturable absorber was demonstrated and studied as an example of the kind of pulsed lasers. In CPQL, as the actively controlling signal, a diode laser beam was focused onto the saturable absorber in the resonant cavity of the ...

Exploding PbS film Q-switch laser
Applied Optics, 1978Exploding PbS film Q-switches in a Nd(3+) glass laser produce approximately 40-nsec. giant pulses. This investigation characterizes the laser giant pulse energy, over-all efficiency and ratio of giant pulse energy to total output energy as functions of flashlamp input energy, PbS film reflectivity, output mirror reflectivity, and flashlamp pulse width ...

Q-Switched Tunable Forsterite Laser
Advanced Solid State Lasers, 1991The tunable Q-switching operation of forsterite (Cr:Mg2SiO4) laser was demonstrated. The typical Q-switched pulse was 60ns to 80ns in tyidth, varied with lasing wavelength. A smooth tuning curve that extends from 1206nm to 1264nm was obtained.
