Passively Q-Switched and Mode-Locked Fiber Laser Based on a Zeolitic Imidazolate Framework-67 Saturable Absorber

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2022
Exploring new saturable absorber (SA) materials with excellent performance to achieve Q-switching and mode-locking operations is a hot topic in ultrafast laser research.

Bistability and pulsations in semiconductor lasers with inhomogeneous current injection [PDF]

open access: yes, 1982
Bistability and pulsation at microwave frequencies are observed in CW GaAs semiconductor lasers with inhomogeneous current injection. Inhomogeneous current injection is achieved with a segmented contact structure.

Wavelength-selective, sequential Q-switching laser cavity [PDF]

open access: yes, 1974
Single-frequency continuous output of laser is converted into series of high-power laser pulses at high repetition rates. Applications include pollutant detection by absorption, laser gain measurements at discrete wavelengths, laser propagation ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Coolants with selective optical filtering characteristics for ruby laser applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 1968
Coolant-filtering medium developed consists of a solution of copper sulfate in a 4-1 volumetric mixture of ethanol and methanol. This solution should be a useful addition to ruby laser systems, particularily in large pulse or Q switching ...

High-repetition rate acoustic-induced Q-switched all-fiber laser [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We report a high repetition rate actively Q switched all fiber laser. The acousto optic interaction controls the cou pling between co propagating core and cladding modes and is used to modulate the optical losses of the cavity, which permits to perform ...

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Improving laser beam coherence - A concept [PDF]

open access: yes, 1971
Laser frequencies may be reduced to single frequency or selected frequencies. For single frequency performance, spacing of frequencies falls in natural line width. For two or more frequencies, thicker spacing is used.

Ultrashort Q-switched pulses from a passively mode-locked distributed Bragg reflector semiconductor laser [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
A compact semiconductor mode-locked laser (MLL) is presented that demonstrates strong passive Q-switched mode-locking over a wide range of drive conditions.

The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.
