Large Language Model in Materials Science: Roles, Challenges, and Strategic Outlook
Large language models (LLMs) are reshaping materials science. Acting as Oracle, Surrogate, Quant, and Arbiter, they now extract knowledge, predict properties, gauge risk, and steer decisions within a traceable loop. Overcoming data heterogeneity, hallucinations, and poor interpretability demands domain‐adapted models, cross‐modal data standards, and ...

Measuring the societal value of lifetime health [PDF]
This paper considers two societal concerns in addition to health maximisation: first, concerns for the societal value of lifetime health for an individual; and second, concerns for the value of lifetime health across individuals.

Retaining, and Enhancing, the QALY
quality-of-life impacts, the quality-adjusted life-year (QALY) has beenwidely recognized and endorsed [1–3].The US Panel on Cost-Effectiveness in Health and Medicinerecommended the QALY for “reference case” analyses [2]. TheUK National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE)regularly uses QALYs in its technology appraisals [3 ...

Modeling and Characterization of a Self‐Sensing Soft Hydraulic Muscle
This article presents the self‐sensing soft hydraulic muscle (SSHM), a novel soft actuator capable of simultaneously sensing force and length without external sensors. A comprehensive model accurately predicts SSHM behavior, validated experimentally with minimal errors. Using propylene glycol enhances durability and reduces hysteresis.
