Quality control in multiple-breath washout measurements: an automated, model-based approach quantifies effects on primary outcomes

open access: yesFrontiers in Medical Engineering
Quality control (QC) is an important but challenging step in the correct interpretation of multiple-breath washout (MBW) tests, as irregular behaviors are frequent, particularly among young and ill patients, and can lead to biased outcomes.

Single‐Cell Reveal GALNT7‐Dependent Ferroptosis Suppression as a Mechanism of Immunotherapy Resistance in Non‐Small Cell Lung Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Integrated clinical and mechanistic analyses identify GALNT7 as a ferroptosis‐suppressive regulator associated with immunotherapy resistance in non‐small cell lung cancer. GALNT7 depletion promotes lipid peroxidation, mitochondrial dysfunction, and ferroptosis, enhances CD8+ T‐cell activation and IFN‐γ production, and sensitizes tumors to PD‐1 blockade,

Hemoglobin's α‐Helix‐to‐β‐Sheet Transition Enables Targeted mRNA Delivery to the Lung

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Acidic heating converts hemoglobin into β‐sheet‐rich fibrils with positively charged surfaces. These hemoglobin fibrils electrostatically complex IL‐11 scFv mRNA, selectively bind circulating platelets, and hitchhike to the lung, where they are enriched in fibroblasts.

Identification of a Nonribosomal Peptide Analog With Activity Against Multiple Gram‐Positive Bacteria via a Synthetic Bioinformatic Natural Product Discovery Approach

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The genome of Rhodococcus erythropolis D‐1 was analyzed by bioinformatic tools to mine a novel nonribosomal peptide synthetase (NRPS) gene cluster. A nonribosomal peptide analog ZURJC5 associated with the NRPS was chemically synthesized. Through structure‐activity relationship studies, ZURJC28 was ultimately obtained and showed antibacterial activity ...

Quality control of ultrasound at 11 to 14 weeks of gestation: results from the China Early Pregnancy Ultrasound Cohort

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Medical Research
Objective To assess the quality control (QC) of ultrasound scanning at 11–14 weeks of gestation during the first stage in the China Early Pregnancy Ultrasound Cohort (CEPUC). Methods A stratified random sampling strategy was employed for QC on ultrasound

Application of random quality control based on time -series model in ELISA detection of blood donors in Nanjing

open access: yesHeliyon
This study introduces a completely Random Quality Control (R-QC) method for Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) tests and compares it with traditional Fixed Quality Control (F-QC) methods across different testing items.

T2T Genome Assembly and Multi‐Omics Data Reveal Terrestrial Adaptation and Mucus Biosynthesis in Tropical Leatherleaf Slug (Laevicaulis alte)

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A gap‐free genome assembly and multi‐omics comparison of the terrestrial slug Laevichaulis alte with an aquatic relative reveal that expansion of the VEGF family orchestrates mucus production, lipid metabolism, and immune defense—highlighting key molecular innovations for conquering life on land.

Wearable‐Derived Diurnal Alignment Between Physical Activity and Device Temperature Predicts Future Disease and Mortality Risk

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Wearable‐derived diurnal alignment between physical activity and device temperature, decomposed into 24 h coupling strength (M24), phase deviation (D24), and 12 h harmonic magnitude (M12), is examined in approximately 90,000 UK Biobank participants.

The KIF6‐RBP Complex Orchestrates mRNA Transport Required for Sperm Flagellar Assembly

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Two homozygous deleterious KIF6 variants are identified in unrelated men with impaired sperm motility. Mouse models and multi‐omics analyses reveal that KIF6 cooperates with the RNA‐binding proteins FMRP and FXR1 to deliver mRNAs essential for sperm flagellar assembly, linking disrupted mRNA transport to reduced abundance of key structural and ...
